Does anyone know of any environmental enrichment that can be used for cows that are in tie stalls? I am a veterinary student and am concerned about one of our calves that has recently been moved from a regular stall to a tie stall & is not taking it well. I am familiar with enrichment items (for horses) that can be placed in normal stalls, but I cannot think of anything for a tie stall...

(I'd also like to point out that I do not agree with the viewpoint that cows = food only. I personally do not eat animals. I also believe that once you work with cows on an intimate level, you will see that they have very distinct personalities and deserve the best life you can provide them. I would appreciate if you would take this into consideration before answering.)

Anyway, I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

I have 2 cats they are not scared of water!!! We are trying to teach them not to jump onto the kitchen bench,or hot stove with a water pistol, but they love it,they find it quite amusing just sittn there gettn soaked!! I asked my vet & he suggested i make a loud noise with a roll of newspaper, not even that seems to work, so if anyone has a magic way to tell the little darlings to get off certain surfaces in the household i would definately be trying it.....

Ok my son has a lionhead bunny that we just got about maybe a month ago. He is the sweetist little guy. My son just loves him. We all play with him and let him run around the living room (or should I say hop) and he has been great. Well tonight when I looked at the bunny he was acting strange. He was moving his head back and forth and couldn't walk straight and when i held him close I could feel his whole body twitch. This has never happened before with him. My son admits to playing around him but said he didn't hurt him. After about 5 minutes of the shaking like that he finally started to calm down but he wasn't using his front left foot to move and was babying his left side. He is now back to his normal self hoping around and using his left side and eating and drinking just fine. Was this a seizure? Will it happen again? Is it deadly for rabbits to have seizures? I have had many rabbits and never had one with seizures before.

I rescue mostly cats, but will not turn my back on any animal in need. Most I spay/nueter/shots socialize with my pack and re-home. But there have been a few that I could not part with. So now to the question, do you feel the spirit of lost loved ones could be around these animals at time, guiding them on what would drive us crazy or comfort us at the time. It has been said that cats see spirits and I do beleive they see something. Now I am not crazy, please do not bash, but my vet , my friends, everyone I know always says they want to come back in thier next life as one of my animals. I know it's deep but do you think it's possibble that our loved ones comfort us through our pets? I like that feeling, how 'bout you!!!!

I sold my horse 2 yrs ago, and now wish I could buy him back. Is it rude to contact the new owner and see if they will sell him to me since I was told that they lost interest in my horse and would probably sell him? AND since his training ahs not progressed past what I had done with him and he is just being used as a weekend fun horse, would you offer the same amount they paid 2 yrs ago? more? less?

Okay as some of you might know Barbaro was the 2006 Kentucky Derby winner. But during the Preakness Barbaro was badley hurt and got pulled out of the race. After that he need tons of surgry that ended his wonderful racing carrear that he was great at.

But i believe that Barbaro can make it and this year he will be back on the track (not racing) but he WILL be there walking around the track with his old jockey. And his lucky number that had him win the Derby.......#8

This year if you believe, watch for Barbaro on the news or just on some racehorse shows to see whats-up with him. Also remember that if your a Barbaro fan like me to pray EVERY night that he will be back.... The Undefeted Barbaro! <3

I went to the petstore today to get another pet rat. The pet store guy just ripped one out of the cage (literally, it was clinging to the bars with its feet and he ripped it off) and said "is this one okay?" I said sure and he put him in a box and I took him home. However, as soon as i took him out of the box I noticed that one of his toenails was bent straight up and bleeding. I pushed it down gently..Is there anything else I can do for him?

thanks in advance for any answers but anyone tempted to reply just to tell me that rats are gross, dont bother.. I think you're gross for thinking theyre gross....have a nice day! :)

My female guinea pig is around 1-2 years old. I noticed when I was petting her that she had a huge ball-like thing inside her neck area. Is this normal or should I take her to the vet? Please help me! Thanks!
