I have been to the vet but am still worried. My pet rat is 2 years old. lately she has been breathing vigerously, has got vey skinny and her hair is dull and stands up.The vet gave her antibiotics but she still hasn't changed at all.I keep her and another rat in a very large cage which is cleaned out regulally, she has all the bedding and accessories she neads. Before I had her shewas kept in a small cage and was on her own ( no rat company ) I have owned her for only 2 weeks but have become very attatched to her. Can anyone tell me what could be wrong.

I really want a pet inside the house, but my mother doesn't let me because she doesn't want any bad smells or messes to heave to clean up. She will not let me have a: cat, dog, snake, rat, mouse, gerbil, or any type of reptiles. What else is there that is not smelly or messy, but super cute, and able to be kept inside?

Anyone else been in this situation? I'd love to get a cat but I'd like one that doesn't shed too much. How could I persuade him to give this a try, or should I just give up?

I have two beautiful young female rats. We've got a huge cage for them but I'm running out of toy ideas. Already looked at all rat webpages and forums. What are your fave toys/treats for your rats?

My 12 week old dwarf lop buck is trying to get his groove on with my 9 month old netherland dwarf doe.
He's chasing her around and then when he's got her cornered he'll try and shag her face.
Whilst he's chasing her about, he randomly lifts his "tail" and shoots out an orange/brown ish liquid. I first thought this was pee, but I am now uncertain, as he only does this when he is around my doe.
Any one got any ideas on what it might be?

Thanks,

Hydroxy

We already have 3 indoor cats, all fixed and declawed and 2 fixed dogs. The dogs are inside dogs other than to go out to potty and run. They all have plenty of room inside as well as outside and are all very well taken care of. Is there any laws in NM that say you can only have so many animals? We are looking into getting another dog.

I'm considering buying a pair of guinea pigs to share my little flat with. They will be indoor pigs. I don't have a garden, but I live across the road from a big park/nature reserve with plenty of quiet grassy areas. In the warmer months, will it be safe/beneficial to take my pigs there and let them have a little amble if they are on harnesses? I've seen someone walking their rabbit there (thankfully no ferrets, I know they wouldn't get on!). I want them to enjoy the fresh air and foliage and exercise but I worry that it might be overwhelming.
