Does anyone know how to MAKE a Mouse/Hamstere Wheel out of House hold objects?

he's bored and i wanted to make somthing fun for him, so i emtied out my gel tub,,,its not very big...(its about the size of a blooper ball) and i made little holes in the cap so he could breathe...so he ran around in that for a while, but i want to make maybe that into a wheel, but wouldnt know how to, fasten it to the inside of glass aquarium, and how to make it spin...anyone know of how to do that..or anything else?

Somewhere on the web, or on one my forums, there are directions for making a silent rodent wheel using the bottom of a plastic bucket and a minimum of hardware.

I'll ask on my forums and search for the info for you. Might take awhile.......

How curious a question. I think it is wonderful you are attempting to design and build a wheel for your mouse/hamster/gerbil. Although they are really inexpensive to purchase, I'll try to help.

Some folks put a cake-cooking wire-rack thingy into the cage to attach items. I have just learned this myself from a member of a mouse group on Yahoo.

One thing to keep in mind is that their legs are very small, so be sure to have a SOLID SURFACE for the wheel treads vs. wire-spokes or ladder-like treadmills. You could use tinker toys to build a structure to hold the wheel.

For the price of a hamster wheel....why dont you guy pay a couple dollars and pick up a proper one he isnt going to snap his leg in if he gets its stuck.....
