Yes, if they will use it. But be sure that the litter isn't too powdery. The powdery kind will make them sneeze, or can cause breathing problems. Use the pellet type if you must use kitty litter. Recycled newspaper litter is the best choice for ferrets. However, NEVER use scoopable litter, it contains 'bentonite' that causes it to clump and can do so in the ferret's intestines.
I've been unsuccessful in getting ferrets to use the kitty litter in the past. For whatever reasons, they have their favorite places to go, and that's what they do.
NOTE: You should NEVER use cedar or pine chips for litter or bed lining for your ferret. It can cause irreversible internal problems with your ferret and make them very sick.

It can but there are other things that are better. The flat out best I've found for eliminating the smell and being easy to clean and use is Feline Pine. It's hard pelleted pine safe for ferrets (unlike shavings), it's not too expensive, and it's enviroment friendly. Yesterdays news is another but I haven't tried it an ddon't know how well paper handles odor.

yes, ferrets are very easy to litter-train.I used to use the clumping type though because you do want to keep the box fresh for them.however an even cheaper and more pet friendly option is either shredded newspaper(baking soda sprinkled in helps reduce odors) or medium cut wood/cedar shavings(not that fine green stuff common in hamster cages).have fun...ferretts are very entertaining but also alot of upkeep.ours was raised with a kitten as a playmate and they would roll down the hallway and bounce off the walls ALL NIGHT LONG!

No, they should not have any kind of clay litter. They should have litter made for small animals/ferrets. They can use the kind that is made with recycled paper and sold for cats, but again, they can not use the clay kind. They can be very sensitive to the dust. Don't use any with perfumes and all either. HTH

I know the Yesterday's News recycled paper kind can be, but don't know about clay....I could see them making a big mess with clumping, ferrets in a sandbox would make a lot of mischief.

i might want to be worried about the dirt fascinated about kitty clutter. even extra importantly, i might want to be worried about the ferret eating any of the clutter. clutter, surprisingly the clumping form, may reason an obstruction. this can require surgical operation to got rid of the blockage or the ferret might want to die. some thing like the day earlier in the present day's information is way safer.
