Its already been 2 weeks and my hamster still runs away from me. She is a Teddy Bear hamster and she seriously hates me. Every time I get ahold of her, she squirms out of my hands. PLUS she sleeps in the toilet and i want her to sleep in her house. WHAT SHOULD I DO? and another thing, her poo isn't dark brown anymore... its light brown... i want to get a new one but i love this one too much :(

A lot of young hamsters are squirmy. It doesn't necessary mean she hates you. She could like you a lot. But hamsters are explorers and love to escape and run about. Try this; sit in the bathtub with her, (when there's no water in it, of course!). This way, she feels like she can run loose but will eventually find herself climbing all over you too. This will get her aquainted with you and how you handle her, (being petted, picked up, etc). We had a mega-hyper and curious ham-ham that wouldn't sit still for 5 seconds and that's what we did with her. It really worked well. You have to do this everyday though. And if you can, do it twice a day. Give her a treat when you are done to reward her. You may just have a high-strung ham-ham, but fear not. Once they get used to you in the tub, they will let you pick them up and love on them - you'll just have to be fast! As she ages she'll probably simmer down a bit. As for sleeping in the toilet, let it go. It's her house and hamsters do things their own way. Mine has to tip her food out of her dish and put it elsewhere, leaving the dish empty. Weird. So get over it. The pottys are for more for the human novelity rather than the ham-ham. She'll most likely only go in one place anyway, just not in your "potty". I hope that helps! =)

Dont get a new Hampster..She/he is just scared and needs more attention..This is normal for the girls sometimes..Depends on how much of handling she has had b4 you got her...Pet her when ever you can and about a week later she should do fine..Dont make any sudden moves around her and or any loud noises until she gets use to you And if she is really acting like she dont want to be petted at all bye anyone after another week of handling her alot then may be pregnant..This happends in petstores all the time...Dont worry about the poop..That depends on wut she eats..Goodluck with her/him..PS take a old sock cut it up in squares and such put them in her cage she will make a bed with that..

You could try just offering her food at first, and gradually moving to picking her up. 2 weeks isn't really that long yet for her to get to know you. She is probably very cautious about you. Give her some time to get accustomed to your smell, your voice etc. She may also mellow out a bit after she gets older. I am assuming she is still fairly young. Good luck!
