My rabbit, Cosmo, lives inside of a nice wood hutch and matching bunny run (3' x 3' x 3') and to top it all off, it's inside of my room. so he's always disinfected (his tile floor and blankets) and has great temps to relax and play in. But he always chews the wood! I can't stand the sounds when I'm sleeping, so I sometimes go out into the livingroom or hold him for an hour or so while we both fall asleep. Bitter Apple seems to work, but it doesn't last long enough. As some of you know, it's not cheap. Is there anything else that's safe to make him stop chewing (for more than a day) thank you!

He has a mineral salt wheel, with 2 carrot chew sticks, a big green one, 3 other smaller chew sticks, a tube (a contractor's cemet tube) and a little "shred box" with goodies inside. he also eats a lot... (he's a growing boy- 17 week old flemish giant) maybe he's doing it for attention?? But i need to break the habbit.

Suck it up butter cup! rabbits need to chew on something to wear down their teeth. if not their teeth will keep growing and u wont be able to stop it if it goes on for to long. if i were you i would but the cage outside if possible. rabbits are actually better outside then inside and they like the outdoors better.

rabbits also do it when they r bored or wanting attetion. if you hold your rabbit he might fall asleep but it would be cuz he's bord. and rabbits tend to be more alive at nite then day. they don't ever really sleep. or you wont see them sleep much bcuz they r not heavy sleepers and they only need very little sleep. if they were heavy sleepers they would get eaten (if they were out in the wild)
now if they get hot they may try and sleep, but rabbits do perfer outside bcuz they know how to keep themselves warm, but they can't sweat if they get hot. so if ur room gets to hot they may be introuble. the only thing rabbits don't like is the cold wind or if they get wet and cold.
Rabbits will always chew to some degree but also for minerals.
These blocks are cheap and available at any pet shop or Feed supply store. Rabbits teeth continue to grow and chewing is a natural way for them to hone them.

now ur rabbit by the sound of it is quite spoiled and being well taking care of so i would put him outside if it were me, but other then that i don't know what else to tell yea.
i hoped this helped you! give ur rabbit a hug for me! lol

Rabbits are chewers. This is natural and instinctual. Putting them in a hutch of wood will more than likely be chewed and there is not much you can do to prevent that.

You may be able to offer a distraction by placing a piece of 2 by 4 board in the cage for the rabbit to chew on that instead. Feed more hay to keep them busy. Or offer a toy that is chewable and safe to play with for entertainment.

Are you providing him with a salt and mineral block to lick? Rabbits will always chew to some degree but also for minerals.

He needs something to chew on. Give him a block of untreated wood to chew on. Maybe a mineral block would keep him busy and would be less noise.

He probably is trying to keep his teeth down. Look at them and see if they are long, he may be having trouble eating or something. If they are I would recommend taking him to a vet so they can professionally file down the teeth. Also make sure he has all the vitamins and minerals he needs in his diet.

He does it to trim his teeth. I have three indoor bunnies, and they have a huge plexiglass hutch in my spare room. No matter what, one always chewed...until I started getting him dired apple peices. just chop apples and put them in the oven for a bit. It stopped him, almost completely.
