I first noticed the lump a week ago cleaning his cage. I must confess, I don't really like handling him, but my daughter is so in love with her "Fudge". When she asked me about it I told her he just had food in his jaw, but today it's much larger and firm. My husband says it is an abcess. Will it go away? Does he need to go to the vet? I guess I need to know if I'm over reacting, or is this serious? I know I took on the responsibility for his total care when I purchased him, and he's such an important member of our family, but I don't know if I can afford an expensive Vet bill if it's something that will go away on its own.

I LOVE going into petco. I just love to look at all the different pets they have. I could spend hours in there. One thing I can't stand however are the people that work there. They are the most unfriendly people I have ever met! They don't smile, they never come over and ask you for help with anything. I'm sorry, but shouldn't having an upbeat personality be required to work at place like a pet store? I mean come on. Who doesn't want to work with pets? It's just one of those jobs that you should be able to love. One time I went there and asked this over weighted lifeless looking woman where they kept the crickets....she didn't even look at me. All she did was point. Some people I swear!

He is only a couple of months old. We use pine shavings in their cage and 1 times weekly we clean their cage with windex. Is this the problem? Next, what do I do about this poor little rattie. I really love him and want to keep him alive. His heart is beating, but thats about all I can get from the little fella. Any suggestions?

I have just started working on the lunge line with my gelding. When I lead him, he likes to walk right next to me and stops if I get further away from him. now, with lunging, he doesn't get that he can walk or go faster without me standing right there with me. I use a lunge whip to try to get him into a circle, but he either walks/runs towards me or goes for the barn. I haven't ever let go of the lunge line, and he is 0% aggressive.
*also, when should I start riding? I don't have a round pen to work with, just my pasture and the surrounding fields, but he let me put a saddle on at 7 months, cinched and all, without any fight and no restraint. I don't think i will have much of a problem in the saddle. he is a destined jumper, he jumped my 4 foot gate and loves jumping.
*last, how do i start jumping my incredible 8-year old contest horse that loves to jump? thanks

I know this is really random but I have a dog and two cats. When they sleep their bodies twitch almost frantically.

I know humans may have a quick muscle spasm while they sleep, but that's still different from the animals.

Anybody know why that is? What's going on with them?

Please tell which Animal you have, what food you use, what bedding you use, the size of your cage, what other animals live together, and anyother information about that animal.

Please read the below information for the safty of your pets!

If you have a guinea pig (or anyother animal) its not just for the pigs. please check out this site- www.guineapigcages.com You can join the forum and ask questions. My username on there is wickedrodent so message me and tell me if you join.

FACTS:

NEVER use ceder or pine bedding for ANY small animal, it will kill them.

Do not put any kind of drops in guinea pigs water, if you are feeding unlimited timothy hay and pellets (such as oxbow- www.oxbowhay.com) and fresh veggies you dont need it.

Runaround balls and wheels are NOT good for guinea pigs, and shouldnt be used.

Never house Guinea pigs and rabbits together!

Syrian hamsters (called teddybears by petstores) MUST be housed alone. For more help, or more info email me!

My rat got loose in my house for about a week. She got loose on the day we were going to Virginia. When we got back we thought she would of been injured or worst. But she was fine!A little dirty but...fine!Fine!FINE!!!^_^
Some poisons were chewed open so she probably ate some cause some were a little empty(the poisons are only meant for the wild mice that get in.).But its been over 6 week weeks and she's still healthy!!

Rebel, my 19 month old painted saddle stud does not like to go into his barn except to eat his hay, and grain w/vit twice daily. Does he not realize that the barn will keep him warmer or is he warm enough with all the winter hair? And, today I sat bareback on his back and he acted as if nothing was going on. We didn't walk anywhere, but I just had to see how he would react. He's had the saddle on several times and wandered around peacefully. Are some horses not a problem at all to break if they trust you. I spend so much time with him. Does anybody else fell like their horse is like a best friend. This sounds stupid but you know what I mean.

My hamster has a bad habit of putting his own crap in his cheek pouches! Yes... I said his own crap. I've even watched him do it, that is; crap and then pick it up and put it in his cheeks.

Why on Earth does my hamster have this disgusting habit and WHAT can I do about it?

Another quick question: He also has very long nails... I've tried clipping and filing them but he just won't sit still for it. What else could I try? (besides taking it to the vet)

It's for my husband and me. We are wanting a pet and in our apartments cannot have a dog. We have researched what it will take financially and everything. I guess I'm trying to see if there's anyone who got one and regretted it. Don't want to make a bad home for it if it's not right for us.

I thought PETA loved animals. I do! Why does PETA kill so many animals that they rescue? After doing a little research I was appaled at the staggering amount at which they kill cats and dogs. Why do they have a cadaver refrigerator?
In one year PETA->
PETA RESCUED- 2,107 nice!
PETA KILLED- 1,324 what!!!
----------------------------------
SURVIVED BEING RESUCED BY PETA only 775 ouch!!!

Looks like it would have been better for Fido NOT to be rescued by PETA
I found that it is amazing how they attack others for doing the same thing. Why don't they attack themselves first?

My cat does that, he does something super-cute and when I take out the camera and turn it on he just walks away just before I shoot.
