I LOVE going into petco. I just love to look at all the different pets they have. I could spend hours in there. One thing I can't stand however are the people that work there. They are the most unfriendly people I have ever met! They don't smile, they never come over and ask you for help with anything. I'm sorry, but shouldn't having an upbeat personality be required to work at place like a pet store? I mean come on. Who doesn't want to work with pets? It's just one of those jobs that you should be able to love. One time I went there and asked this over weighted lifeless looking woman where they kept the crickets....she didn't even look at me. All she did was point. Some people I swear!

yes i hate that but i don't shop at any local pet store because of that reason and i get all my things through my catalog and i order my dog food through my local feed store. i try not to deal with the rude people out there. but i did come across a person in petsmart and i asked her for help with getting a dogloo and she looked at me like i was wierd, so i asked her if she had a bad day and why was she taking it out on the customers. i also told her that if she can't be happy working at a pet store then she did not need to be working there around customers. i did tell her manager about her attitude. i also called the corp. office and told them that they had employees working at their store in my town and they took care of it. that is why i don't do my business with the local pet stores. i do all my ordering in my catalog and i am very happy with what i get. it is all the same stuff that i would get at a pet store and some of it is cheaper. well that is what i think of pet stores, even though years ago i worked at a petco and when i was working the people were not rude and they were very helpful and kind to the customers. well that is my opinion on the pet stores.

I've never had a problem with our petco. Petsmart either. Although we have a store called Pet supplies plus in my area and all the stores of theirs ive gone to, the workers are rude, unprofessional, and immature. It's like the owner only hires young teens who know nothing about pet stuff or anything about customer service/courtesy. I guess it just depends where you go and what kind of managers/owners the store has.
But I do agree that if you work with the public, you need to be polite and friendly, if you have an attitude then you shouldn't be working there. Next time if I were you, I'd let either the company know or the head manager (probably both) know that you don't like the way the employees treat the customers

I think it's your local store because my Petco's employees have been pretty nice to me. Sorry to hear it, though. Try complaining to the managers and if the manager is like that too, take it higher up.

WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU WANT TO SHOP WHERE THE EMPLOYEES DO NOT KNOW A THING! I HAVE A FRIEND THAT TRIED TO GET A JOB THERE, SHE WAS TO QUALIFIED BECAUSE SHE HAD A PET AT HOME! THEY ARE AFRAID TO HIRE ANY BODY THAT MIGHT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT!

It must just be your local store. I've always found them very friendly and my dogs love them.
