A basic standard cage, with a plastic base and a wire or plastic cover that attaches to the base, can be used as long as they are kept indoors, also the guinea pig must be allowed out for supervised exercise daily. Wooden hutches are more commonly used and can be for outdoor or indoor use. Make sure that the guinea pig has adequate space for exercise and a separate sleeping compartment. Wood shavings should be used for the floor of the cage with some hay on top. Fine sawdust can cause eye irritations and do not use straw as it can cause eye injuries. The cage or hutch should be cleaned out weekly, the indoor cages may need to be cleaned out ore often, and any old food removed. If it is necessary to wash the housing then only use a cleaner specifically designed for cleaning these little animals houses. An earthenware food bowl and a drinking bottle will also be required to feed and water the guinea pig.
It depends on how many you are getting. Look the animal up in books at your locol liebury and it should tell you there. Always look an animal up before keeping one.

i remember when i was six my dad made my guinea pigs a new hutch. Naturally it depends of the size of the guinea pig. It should have two levels, each about half a metre high. There should also a been a plank of wood with ridges on it leading up to the second level. on the second level just less than half of it should be properly enclosed with a large enough hole for the guinea pig to get in and out so i can go and sleep etc. overall the hutch should be about 1metre high and 1.5metres wide. only the front side should have barbed wire, and each level should be accessed by different doors. and on the second level the sleeping compartment shout be accessable by a different door as well.

Why not keep them inside so you can enjoy them more? There are many things that can kill a pig if they are left outside. Cats, Dogs, Birds, The contstant hot/cold temperature, just to name a few.
The best cage is a C&C cage, made from cubes are coroplast. Its easy to make and very inexpensive (less than $50) plus guinea pigs love them!
For more information on C&C cages- www.guineapigcages.com

The SMALLEST size that pigs should be in is-
1-2 females- 28in x 42in
1-2 males- 28in x 56in
3 females- 28in x 56in
3 males- 28in x 70in
Add 14 inches for each additional guinea pig.

Depends how big your guinea pigs are, and how many you have.
I dunno anything about guinea pigs, but I know quite a lot about rabbits - I've had quite a lot of them. For a single small rabbit, I reckon the hutch should be about four feet long - probably about the same for a guinea pig or two?

I have guinea pigs and I had exactly the same problem. What I did was you get hold of their rear end and gently push it up the ramp. Put treats at the top of the ramp to try and encourage them up there. If you haven't had them that long then don't worry, they will get used to going up the ramp if you keep on trying to get them up there. Hope that helps :]
