It all depends on your lifestyle and How much you can afford..For some people One can be too much if they stay gone for long periods of time, and keep their dog penned in the back yard with no attention..For Others they can have 15-20 and if the animals are Vetted, Well fed, Given Attention and have clean living conditions,Then That is Not Hoarding..Hording or Collecting is when a person has an overwheming amount of animals that arent spayed/neutered..Dont get good Vet care and live in their own filth. If you can afford all your Pets need you are doing fine! I have 7 dogs plus two foster dogs,2 cats, and two Parrots..Everyone is UTD on Everything and get lots of attention...

when i was growing up we had a dog, a cat, a budgie, about 6 chooks, 2 doves, 2 geese, 5 or 6 ducks, a turtle, a rabbit, 2 guinea pigs, a rosella, a couple of rats and a mouse. and no we didn't live on a farm, you can never have too many pets we also had a bat a kookaburra and a magpie but not for long oh yeah we also had lots of fish

As long as you have no problems taking care of them you can have as many as you want. I have 3 cats, 1 dog and 2 fish and in the spring I am going to get 2 white ducks.

As long as you have the proper facilities, and look after your pets, I think it's an infinite number. We have 4 horses, 1 donkey, 4 (big) dogs, 1 budgie (parakeet), 1 guinea-pig, 1 snake and 2 goats. (That's 14 altogether). We have 16 acres, food and shelter for them, and they're all happy.

It depends on the individual!

For me, I would have as many as I could if I had the space and money!! Right now I have 3 but would love more, but can't. :(

My grandmother on the other hand would say that 1 pet is too many, she can't stand anything furry, slimy, or really anything that isn't human.

It's a personal decision, really. Just make sure if you have a lot that you can take care of them all equally and give them the love and attention they all deserve. :)

I guess it depends if you take care of them or not. For example, you would be considered having too many pets if you never have time for them, or can only attendd to your dog, or cat, or something. If you take good care of all your pets, then you can never have too many :]

The famous "Dog Whisperer" Ceasar Milan has 30 dogs. Cool huh?

I agree with a lot of the people who have already posted, as long as all the animals have all animals are taken to the vet, taken care of and loved, you dont have too many.

As of right now, I have 9 dogs, (2 are bigger and live in the backyard/garage and all the others have full run of the house) 2 hamsters, a cockatiel and a fish, and I am planning on adopting two guinea pigs. All of my animals are taken to the vet twice a year for check ups, they are all given lots of love, and all are taken care of in cases of food/water/toys etc..

I think that if you start to go over two big pets like dogs or cats, then maybe an aquarium of fish, or a small animal like a ginipig or hamster. after that it is sort of out of control.

I don't think there is a magic number. When your house smells and there are pets being neglected (not getting enough food and water because there are so many of them) and you can no longer afford to get them their shots and standard medical care because you have too many . . . .then THAT is too many. If you enjoy them and they are taken care of and loved, then GOOD FOR YOU.

As long as you give them all proper care and food who cares how many you have. Just be sure not to neglect the kids in favor of the pets.
