I have had the other two platies for about two weeks, at most. I noticed the baby as I was cleaning the gravel for the first time. The vaccuum was sucking up A LOT of this whitish mucousy looking substance, but wrote it off as fish feces and food debris. Then I saw the baby....looks just like the red platy. It had black dorsel and tail fins and was orange in color. Teeny tiny. I stopped cleaning, turned the light off, and I haven't seen it or any new babies since. I've read that platies are live bearers, so why is there only one? And when should I see more of it or any others? I also noticed it swimming into the gravel...will it survive underneath all of the rocks? Any advice?

I'm interested in getting a fish, but I was wondering what a new setup cost for a small fish tank and about what regualr upkeep is. Just looking for a ballpark estimate.

I have full blown ick. 3 of my fish are COVERED in it. so, i turned up the temperature to like 84 degrees f. and added the propper amount of aquarium salt. i also went to the store and got ick meds but the only kind availble, (the shelves were pretty empty, of course it is my luck) was jungle tank buddies tablets. i tab for every 10 gallons every 24 hours. so i treated my tank with that and removed the carbon from my filter. i know it will take a while but it doesn't seem better at all. i have a ten gallon, well stocked and cycled. i plan on continuing the meds and hoping it clears. any suggestions on ways to get them better faster and am i doing the right thing? is the medicine i got good quality? any tips would be great!

I don't keep saltwater fish but I wok at a pet shop and I'm just trying to figure out some things about those fish. It says only 1 clownfish to a tank, I'm assuming that is a total of one, and you can't do one of each type (like 1 maroon with 1 percula and 1 clarkii).

If that is true, can it at least be done with larger tanks (in excess of 150 gallons). Do they fight because there is not enough room for them to defend their territory?

I just purchased two packages from walmart. One is the miniture lily and one is the Aponogeton. I have let them sitin a jar of water for two days now. I just put them in my betta's aquarium. All of the bulbs float except for one lily and one aponogeton bulb. My question is, how long will it be before they sprout, are they supposed to be floating? Is it harmful that my betta is pushing on them? And is the water lily going to be good for my aquarium? it's a dwarf, so I'm thinking if I put one plant of it in the back corner and prune it, it should be fine. I don' thtink the leaves come to the surface all the time. (plus, are the aponogetons good for my betta to rest on? that's why I bought them). Well, even if they don't sprout, at least it's something for my betta to do now :D (I'm not sure if my other question actually posted or not, sorry for the repeat if it did!!!)

My sister got a Betta fish and at first it was breathing fast and since my uncle had Betta fish and was a good keeper he said he might be sick so my sister didnt want it to die on her and since it was probobly sick when she got it she returned it to pet-co and got a new one but i also got one and mine is breathing kind of fast! But i dont want to return it because it has pretty colors and i already named it Patches because it had patches of different colors. So can you help me find out a when a Betta fish regularly breath and make it easy for me to count or tell how fast its breathing when you tell me how fast it it should breath.

Hi, I went to petco and purchased a package of 6 aquatic plant bulbs, a medley of Aponogeton, Water Lily, and Onion plant. I was wondering how to plant these, I bought them 12 days ago, without any sign of growth. The onion plant keeps floating up, and the fish keep on nibbling on the onion skin like layer, its quite damaged, will it still grow?

I have a fancy oranda goldfish who I thought had finrot and the guy at the pet store reccommended Melafix. I removed the carbon from my tank and have treated him for a week, and it started to look better, but now it seems to have come back. Should I get a different kind of medicine and is it safe to treat again right away or should I do a total water change and thoroughly clean the rocks, etc... I don't understand why it keeps coming back and I really want to make sure my fish gets better. He is a small goldfish (only about an inch and a half) in a 5 gallon tank with a live plant that he is eating like crazy...

ok lets start by the tank is 30 gal and the bottom is a mix of black sand with white rocks i made a shelter for the convicts out of limestone but they dug the list 1/2 in of sand and it collapsed they took the fry out and today they started to dig 2 holes next to the big one.
Also i have the tank divided in half wish a mesh kit on the other side a have a tiger oscar with a chinese algea eater, their side is dirty dirty without the chinese.
Im thinking on taking the divider out and taking the stones out with care cuz some of the fry are close to it most of them are next to the plasting plants. i dont know what im doing but i want to fix it tonight thx

I am getting a 10-gallon tank with 3 male mollies, and about 4-5 male guppies. My room right now is 84 degrees farenheit. Won't a heater over-heat my tank? Also, does it turn off when my tank is a certain degree, turn on when it lowers, etc? I have never really owned a large aquarium before. Any help would be appreciated!

My Betta lives in a reg/large size plastic peanut butter jar. Despite that, he's five years old and just seemingly start to have problems. Should I change the jar?

And how is ammonia poisoning created?

Because he has kind of reddish gills now should I change the water everyday now for a change?

He also has this small gole in his pectoral fin(the front fin)
Someone suggested PimaFix. But does Betta Water Conditioner work like PimaFix? Two years ago, I used Betta Water Conditioner when his tail got this hole too and he healed.

I fed him some shredded lamb chops because I ran out of Ronnie-O's homemade fish food. He is now so mad at me he is showing me his undercarriage. I told him "Mr. Wiggles. I certainly do NOT want to see that." He is non responsive. He won't even pick at his hot dog pole that floats in his pot. Please help!!!

My Betta fish, Sofa, is 5 years old. (He's called Sofa, because he lives on the table...well next to our sofas.)

Recently, my betta fish is getting this one light/ gray spot near the gills, and his gills are kind of red too. He keeps opening up his gills really wide. There's this little hole on his pelvic fins. He also takes these big gulps. Is there something wrong? Please tell me as soon as possible.
