First off, forget the fish, are you breathing? Have you ever heard of commas? Cool down, missy.
Sometimes a fish can't take its new environment. Did you maybe wash it's bowl in vinegar? Unless it's a pickled herring that's a no-no.
And don't feed it too much. Every other day is enough. It ain't a firefly.

once you replaced the water, became the hot water out of your make certain's domicile? it relatively is attainable that that water had thoroughly diverse parameters, and regardless of the conditioner, will possibly no longer have been sturdy. you apart from might might desire to make beneficial that the temperature is around seventy six-eighty F on account that bettas are tropical fish. And as human beings have been announcing, the bettas will stay longer in a bigger tank instead of a small bowl.

First of all, I hope you don't have him in a bowl, they need at LEAST a 2.5 gallon tank with heater and filter
As for the breathing, that's absolutely normal, because he needs to get used to his new environment, that can take up to 10 days sometims, in that period the also don't eat as much or even nothing
Hope that helps
Good luck

well if you are putting them into uncycled water, that will stress them out. also they thrive in open waters and actually only live in puddles when they are mating. so you might want to get a 5 gallon tank, a filter,an airrator, some plants, and decorations to hide in, and water conditioner to get rid of heavy metals, chlorine, chlormamine and ammonia.... ask petco to put a bag buddy in your bag when you take him home and NEVER mix the store water with your water. other than that...kick the bow get a 5 gallon set up and water conditioner.
ps a long life for a betta is 8 years. people that say their betta lived 1 year ( and think it is a long time) are poorly mistaken.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, since your betta fish is new, and it's just getting use to your water. I'm sure you already know this, but I'm hoping you put in water conditioner?
One of my new betta is breathing a little bit faster than normal, but I just got that one 3 days ago. Don't worry about it.

Bettas breath faster when they are under stress. The trip from the pet store to your home is enough to cause this. It is best to just leave them be for a little while. Try not to disturb their bowl if you can help it. Also, make sure that you use dechlorinator in his water. He should have atleast 1/2 gallon of water in his bowl. Check out this website for how to take care of your betta:

Well I would think that maybe he is stressed out, from the ride. I would leave him alone for a day. Just so he can get used to his surroundings. it could be the water?! Have you checked your parameters??if not i would check those to see maybe if something is off. Just a few suggestions. Hope you figure it out. Good luck!
