i cleaned it all already and submerged it in water.
the only problem is, the wood floats.
how would i get the wood to sink and stay at the bottom of the aquarium?

It will take a few days to a week for the wood to become water logged. Just be patient and don't try to rush it. You could also try weighing it down with rocks (in your tank) until it sinks on its own. For more help with driftwood preparation, check out the link in my profile.

I'm having the same problem. When you take it from outside, make sure you boil it for 5-10 minutes before adding it to the aquarium.

Some pieces of wood are easy to get to the bottom. If its not hollowed out, you could screw in the bottom of a plastic cup. Cover it with gravel in your tank and it should stay down.

Depending on the size, it can take a while to become water logged. I have a hollowed out piece of wood, 6" wide, 12" tall, but 1/2" thick. Its been sitting in a tub of water (weighed down by a rock) for the past 4 weeks and it still floats! It can take a long time to sink.

Just be sure to boil it to kill off everything before adding it.

You should really never put foreign materials into a fish tank, it has a high risk of killing your fish! You should look for some wood that has been properly treated, at your local pet store. If they tell you that your wood is safe, you can try weigh it down some how, maybe put gravel on top of it?

did u cure it?

the wood will be releasing tannins to the tank, if it isnt sinking that indicate that you didnt cure the wood.

To cure just add it to a bucket or warm water for 1 week to 1 month. It will release tannins and it will sink.

Thats the good thing about driftwood...it drifts...and to do that it has to float. You need to lodge it down put something heavy on top of it.
