I want to add a Beta to my tank but fear it may take over. I also have a Ropefish (named Hempy:) 2 Bala Sharks, Goldfish, 2 frogs, and an Algae eater. Do Beta's really need their own little bowl? It seems so small and I don't want to clean two tanks.

I have an outdoor pond and right now it appears to be frozen solid. They all survived last year, but I'm not sure if the pond was frozen over like it is now.

I defenitly want an Angelfish, Clown Pleco and Neon-Tetra. I would like a Betta but, it would probably bite the Angelfish right? How about female Betta? If either Bettas won't work, tell me a fish that's blue like a Betta. Thanks alot.

Do I really need to wait for bacteria to grow in my tank before I introduce fish? And if so what is the fastest and cheapest way to do this

Hi, I've had my betta for a couple of months now. I keep him in a 2 gallon tank with a heater, and I change some of his water every day. I do a full water change once a week with light salt, and he is a happy, piggy little guy, full of life. :)
My question is: his right gill sticks out a little bit. I believe he has had this ever since I brought him home. He is red, so it is hard to tell if his gill is inflamed, but he is not lethargic and seems to be acting normally. How can you tell whether a gill is just genetically imperfect, or if it is an illness? Thanks!

So I set up my tank (5 gal), completed the cycle, and all of my test readings are fine. Ammonia is at 0. For some reason though, the water is still cloudy. I did a 25% water change, and that didn't seem to help. Is it safe to put a fish or two in? Will it just clear up after a while? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I bought a betta fish 2 days ago and it is in a 1 gallon tank that has a light and a filter. I let the tank cycle with distilled water for 3 weeks before I put the betta in.

Yesterday, I noticed little specks of white all over the fish. I treated with Quick Cure, thinking that it was Ich. But, today, the little white spots have been replaces by longer cottony fuzz patches which have also grown along its fins.

Is this Ich or something else? What can I do to treat it?

It wasn't until a few days ago that its one eye got really bad. It started filling with blood!! It was grose!!! he still swims around fine and is eating but his eye is descusting!!! Has any one ever had this happen before??? I don't know what to do. Is there any thing I can do to get rid of it? I feel really bad about it. Thankyou for your help.

and I read that you can't put Betta and Angelfish together because the Betta will attack it due to similar looks. At my local library they have 2 fish tanks which contain Angel, Bettas, Tetra, etc. The Betta doesn't attack the Angelfish, vice versa. Is that because the Betta is female?

I would love to get my son (3 yr old) a fish. I work 12 hour shifts. What would be the best SMALL fish to get that requires hardly anything except alittle food and that doesn't die easily? Would getting a small algae eatter help any? I'm not that great at remembering to keep tanks that clean.

I think my beta fish may be ill. Her fins are clamped together, her stomach looks larger than my other female beta, she's either really still, or twitching all over the place in a beserk way, like she's trying to escape. Is she suffering from some diesease, or is she pregnant? (I recently got her from a store that was breeding some of their fish.) If so, please tell me what to do! I'm sending her off as a present for my friend in two days, and I'm worried that she might die.
