I know that the puppys cannot leave before 8 weeks min. But I have a kennel outside and was wondering when the mother can go out into the kennel and the puppys still stay in the home by themself. Ill start to wean the puppy around 3-4 weeks old. How old should puppies be when they can start exploring the snow? Thank You!

My boyfriend and I purchased a female pomeranian from a lady off craigslist. She thought the dog was about two or three, but after taking her to the vet we found she was more around the age of ten. Knowing this we still don't regret buying her. She is the best dog I could ever ask for and I wouldn't trade her for the world. We've recently found out she has a mild heart murmur, arthritis in her back legs, and some throat problems. She still loves to run around and take long walks though.

I'd like to keep her around for as long as possible and will do anything in order to help her.

Any tips or suggestions would be great!

Today my dad and I visited a pet shop. They were nice and clean and sanitary. The puppies all looked healthy and had no visual flaws, they all had clear eyes and healthy coat. They each weren't crammed in a glass cage (like PetLand) and the cages were open so you were able to interact with all the puppies. They all weren't crammed in together either. There were about two little puppies in each cage (they were fairly large). The people seemed to know a lot about the dogs and breeds. There were no designer breeds. It's not a commercial store.

Do they sound reputable? How can I tell if they get their puppies from reputable breeders or just puppy mills.

I am 109% against puppy mills and buying dogs from petstores, but this seemed like a great place. And it was just for dogs, not dogs cats lizards birds snakes and mice. My dad is trying to tell me that they are good and i'm like paranoid about getting a healthy pup!

What do you know about Longship Newfoundlands in VT? Are they a good kennel to purchase a Newfie from? Have any of you purchased or know someone who purchased a Newfoundland from them?

Thank you so much (once again Not a Black St. Bernard! I wish you had a litter!)!!!

I have a five year old German Shepherd. He's always been a little rambunctious, but since he's aged, he's mellowed a little bit. My family recently got a four year old female German Shepherd/mix. Our first dog won't let the new dog near anyone in my family, and he barks at her 24/7. I know it's in the nature of GSD's to protect their territory and it's family, but it's getting ridiculous. We were thinking of getting rid of the new dog, but the kids have grown attached to it, and behaviorally speaking, she's a dream-pet compared to our first dog. I don't want to get rid of our first dog, because he was here first, and as I said before, he's just doing his job. What can we do?

I have a 6 lb. 2 year old yorkie who can't seem to hold anything down and I have no clue why. I've been to the vet and they took an x-ray and blood test and have found nothing. They sent me home with Flagyl, Amoxi, and Cimetidine but he still can't eat and throws up the little bit of water that he does drink. I'm so frusturated because I haven't given him anything to make him so sick and he hasn't been exposed to anything. The doctors don't know what this is. Does anyone have a yorkie who had similar problems? Is it possible that the medicine can make him worse being that there is nothing in his stomach???

My dog which is a Pug, was on his leash on my porch, When he saw a hug dog ( the ones with the black/blue tongue) and ran across the street to it! The leash had came from off his neck. The dog bit my dog and did something to his legs. My dog wont even use his back legs. The owner stated that she warned us to get our dog but we could get to him fast enough. I think the owner knew she had an aggressive dog, that needs a mussel!! I am at the ER and i want her to pay half of the ER bill. What do you think?

No she's transformed!! i left her inside my room because i had to go to school and when i came back she had digged into the carpet under the door! she tore it apart! she ruined all my carpet!!! the next day i left her lose around the house and when i came back she had destroyed the window blinds into million pieces! my mom was furious! the next day i left her in room with her leash and gues what!? she destroyed it!!! i dont know what to do! when i adopted her form the shelter they told me that she had been turned in 3 times already and that she needed a permanent home immediately. I didnt ask much.. :( I dont want to take her back but I cant afford to have my house destroyed! help!!!

I have seen people on here refer to "apple head" Chihuahua's or "teacup" apple head Chihuahuas. I looked at the standard of the Chihuahua and there isn't anything that states there is such a thing. Nor does it say that there is a size called "teacup". In the statndard there is one size and mentions that it's a disqualification if the dog is over 6 lbs...but nothing that says teacup. The only thing close to "apple head" is when describing the head, it says the head should have an "apple dome" which I interpret as the skull should be round, not flat. If it's correct for the skull to have an apple dome...then why call a Chihuahua as an applehead? Are you saying the head of the dog you are talking about has a correct head? Or is there some new breed out there I'm unaware of?
