I have found that getting a dog fixed is best done at 5 months old.
There have been some complications with doiong puppies so early.
Older dogs May wonder off more and they will usually get to the point of marking hteir territory
They also may be more prone to cancer if not fixed before they are old enough for teh harmones to kick in.
Again 5 months is the best

Wait till the pup is around 4-6 months depending on the breed. If it matures faster, such as a pit bull, 4 months is good, but if it matures slow like a GSD, wait 6 months. Your vet will give you a better idea, but whatever you do, do not fix your pup under the age of 4 months!

The sooner the better. Any time after 8 weeks is fine. Your vet will let you know if there are any reasons why you would have to wait. Most male dogs can produce puppies VERY young and to wait until a year of age is ludicrous as it allows a whole host of problems to crop up that could easily be avoided.
Your vet is the one to decide because he/she will be the one doing the surgery.

You should get ur little boy puppy fixed the sooner the better, u dont want his hormones to kick in...ask ur vet. the surgery only costs around $100 and for the guys it's not a big deal. :) besides, the boys r much more loving and trainable after u have it done. <3

It depends a lot on the breed but not before 6 months. If he is a large slow maturely breed than you might want to wait a little long because some studies have shown that dogs neutered before their growth plates have sealed are more likely to develop bones problems later in life.

You can get him fixed at 6 months.
Check with your vet though because when i got my dog done when he was 6 months old they told me they are doing it earlier now.. maybe 4-5 months.

At 6 months is the accepted standard. Before that it is quite controversial. So "then" is my answer, assuming that by "puppy" you mean under 4 months :)

Usually 5-8 months is the right time. A friend of mine got her Golden Retriever neutered at 6 months. :)
