What do you know about Longship Newfoundlands in VT? Are they a good kennel to purchase a Newfie from? Have any of you purchased or know someone who purchased a Newfoundland from them?

Thank you so much (once again Not a Black St. Bernard! I wish you had a litter!)!!!

I personally do not know the Cornell's, but I have heard them to be good and contentious breeders. I do know one person that had a dog from them and is qiute happy with him, and he seems quite healthy.

You should research them and the dog you would be planning on getting a pup from on the OFA site. I know they only have 2-3 dogs with CHIC numbers.......but not everyone submits all the results to CHIC. They are NCA members and I am pretty sure active members of the regional club.

I like "Riggs" , a black male they have. I like a Landseer they have also, "Ethan"....but I think a hip did not clear. He lives with someone else and I HOPE he is NOT being used!!!!!

Jeez..."Ethan" has a hip that did not clear AND DJD in the elbow. BUMMER.

But, they do show a lot and really seem like good people. I know people who know them pretty well and have never heard anything BAD.

*ps...I WISH I could currently have enough time and money to HAVE a litter!!!!!

They look good. The only thing that would concern me is will there be carriers in the litter...for cystenuria. It really doesn't matter for pets though. I know "Bogart" on the dam's side IS a carrier, but I do not thing anyone else is. If this is a repeat breeding, or the sire or dam have had previous litters, there should be some OFA info on anyone related. Otherwise, they are very nice puppies, with a great pedigree. GO FOR IT!!!
