Dogs - December 2006

Some dogs run up and harrass leashed dogs and trample over other people's picnics in the park. It also seems these owners who allow their hyper dogs to roam free, don't bother to pick up poo. But then some dogs not on leash never leave their owner's side, and often these owners of well behaved dogs are courteous, and willing and able to control the dog with voice command. Should the leash law be seriously enforced (police actually giving tickets) in your city?

in my garden and the grass is dying. Lots of large muddy areas especially with all the rain we have been having, it is a mess. How can I get it to grow back for the summer or have I lost my lawn forever.

there was no YA?

Where would you learn how to housebreak your dog, train your dog not to bite, teach it to obey you, learn to establish yourself as the alpha, what to feed it and when, to learn why it barks, why it pulls you on the leash, why it sniffs other dogs' rears, what to do if your dog ingests something he shouldn't have?

Might you actually go to obedience? Or, oh, no, can't believe I'm going to say it, CALL A VET? Maybe read up on dog breeds at the LIBRARY? Does anyone here remember what a library is?

(This is the third time I've asked this, it's not posting on my computer, so sorry if it's a repeat).

Can anyone tell me if this food is any good please? I am looking to change the brand I feed my Siberian Huskies as the supplier is not very dependable with stocking what I buy at the moment - James Wellbeloved. I have looked online to try and find a good healthy dry food and this seems to look good. I would prefer to get Innova if possible but cant seem to find anywhere that stocks/ships to Rep Ireland. My dogs are not fussy eaters but they have sensitive stomachs and not all food agrees with them. I have tried Royal Canine before and it was too rich for them. Thanks in advance for any help received

I have a three month old puppy. It is a Husky mix. It eats once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and once before 7 o'clock. I feed him this much because I don't think dogs should only eat twice a day. But I don't want to over feed him. Anyway, I give him about a cup of water with each meal. I don't want to give him too much to drink because he pee's alot. Well I wake up at 6 in the morning to take him out and then I wake up at 9 to take him outside then I stay up and take him out for about 20 minutes every hour or so and whenever he goes near the door. He won't pee or poop outside he just goes inside. It's like he refuses to go outside or something. Well whenever he pee's I smack him on the nose, tell him no firmly and show him he has to go outside and then I stay out there with him for about 20 mins. see if he has to finish. He doesnt and just sits down or lays down. When I take him inside he doesnt want to go in he wants to play. I spend alot time w. him and watch where he goes

Before anybody yells at me or lectures me on the evils of backyard breeding...

My friend (who I'm asking the question for) is not a BYB. She was told by the rescue that her female dog was spayed. Either someone lied or was misinformed, or her german shepherd mix is the doggie holy Mary. Her dog will be spayed after the litter is born. This is all I know!!!

My friend is ONLY concerned with finding good homes for these puppies. She can keep one, and has family that can take another two.

Should she list the rest in the newspaper? Should she charge anything for them, or say "free to a good home"? What information should she get from the potential owners so that she knows that they are going to a good home?
