in my garden and the grass is dying. Lots of large muddy areas especially with all the rain we have been having, it is a mess. How can I get it to grow back for the summer or have I lost my lawn forever.

I would like to add for the benifit of som people that the dog is take out 3 times a day and is walked plenty. He prefers my grass as that is how he was trained, better that than peeing on the streets or public grass areas I think, where small childdren are about playing!

When your dog wets the grass you must dilute asap, obviously you havent done that recently. but once you get your grass back to normal if your dog does it again pour a jug of water on the spot immediately after it. this will stop the grass from dying.
To repair the damage already done you will need to remove the bad patches and fill the patch with some compost, firm it down with your boots and sprinkle with grass seed , pat this down and leave to grow, this will help it grow in time for next summer. If you dont want your dog near these patches sprinkle some ceyanne pepper overthe area, this will keep dogs and cats away from the areas

You need to take the dog out rather than letting him wee in the garden all the time. This will give the grass a rest. All gardens get soggy and wet at this time of year. Even in the summer where the dog wees you need to water the lawn to wash it down and get rid of the acidity. Enjoy the new exercise!

Hi Beanco! I f you have a lot of property and its feasable for you,you could fence in a place like a dog run and during the day let your dog run in the enclosed area . Plant inexpesive grass seed in the run and if he pees on that dont worry at least he isnt wetting your lawn.I hope this works. Rubberstamprowdy.

Have I got news for you!!!! My friend had the same problem...yellow dying patches all over her lawn. Whilst watching daytime TV about a year ago I saw a piece that said if you put some tomato ketchup on their food it would take away the acidity and stop the grass burn. 'No way' I thought...but told my friend anyway (who was ever more skeptical)........tried it...and guess what? Yes, absolutely...it works...amazing...have no idea how or why...but it does...worth a go (as long as your dog likes ketchup of course!)...Good luck

this is consistently lady urine that burns the grass. some spoons of tomato sauce in her food is the perfect treatment. i have self assurance it neutralises something contained in the urine. thoughts you, if I ever see my woman canines peeing on the backyard, I frequently supply it a strong water in with the hose pipe. No brown patches then. wish this allows. i have merely examine some human beings saying watering it in would not artwork, inspite of the indisputable fact that it extremely does for me. I easily have a most suitable backyard, so perhaps they're not watering it in quickly sufficient or lengthy sufficient. supply it a try besides, and that i wish it extremely works for you too.

throw down some grass seed, it will take off in the spring. You cannot stop your dog from peeing on the grass, but the garden? Why is the dog in the garden to begin with?

The same thing happened with my friend's dog. He was killing the grass. I believe the vet said he had too much ammonia (?) in his urine so they gave him some pills they bought at the pet store. It didn't help. So they set up a section of their yard for him to go potty in and put down wood chips. It took a LOT of time and patience to train him to only go there. Then they had new sod laid down as reseeding didn't work.

If that's where you trained your doing to pee, then yes, he will pee there. He's marking his territory. He feels that it's his grass and he wants everyone to know. Your grass will grow back.

Mix some tomato juice in his food. It cuts down the acid (or base, I don't remember) in his pee, which is part of what is killing the grass.
