My 4 year old Yorkie had fleas a few weeks ago. We gave her advantage and also sprayed the house down...our house and Holly are completely flea free.

Holly though, has a flea bite on the back of her ear that she scratched so much it turned into a sore which scabs over and then Holly scratches the scab off again, making it bleed and re-scab. I have noticed that it is now the size of my baby finger nail and she just cant stop scratching it.

We of course will take her to the vet but we live in a very rural place and our vet is closed for a few days so in the meantime is there anything out there that will stop the itch that is safe for dogs? An anti-histamine? Or anything topical that I could put on the sore? A way to make a homemade cone?

Any ideas would be nice until we can get her to the vet on Thursday..

Thanks!!

I heard on the news the other day, that a 6 week old pit bull puppy bit off a baby's toe or toes while the parents of this baby where in the other room.

For some reason I dont see this being possible. Is this possible? Does a pit bull have teeth when it is 6 weeks?

Can someone please help me out here? I gladly appreciate it.

I have a 2 year old mini schnauzer who is scared to go on a leash. My family got her a year ago and we think her previous owner beat her with a leash that traumatized her. If we put the leash on her she starts trembling and shaking uncotrollablly.

I have a mutt, I believe him to have border collie, husky and maybe a teeny bit of rott in him. A very big nerd, (my favorite kind of dog), He is very sweet, loving and friendly. I can take him anywhere, he's always the 'main dog' at the dog park. He gets along with all the dogs and the people there, when I walk him, he's friendly with the people out. But at home... Elroy is quite the 'bodygaurd', over time he has gotten more 'protective' towards people coming over. At first it was just strangers, but lately it's been to just about everybody who doesn't live here, except kids. I want him to continue to protect and alert me when somebody comes over, but aggressive barking at my mom is just uncalled for! He is an outdoor dog and I think he's about 6 or 7 years old, we've had him for 4 years. I do think he was abused prior to us getting him, he is much more aggressive towards men, it even took him a while to warm up to my husband. Like I said, it's only at home, he's like this.

We have a 4 year old jack russell/shitzu cross male named Charlie. We adopted Charlie this past summer and he has been a joy nursing back to health and training (wasn't very hard). Charlie previous to us, had always lived with dogs. He grew up with two dogs, and had a temporary foster brother. He gets along well with other dogs, but seems pretty lonely and down sometimes as we have no dog park or friends with dogs to socialize him with.

We want a second dog anyway, a smaller breed (under 30lbs). What are the pro's and con's of having two dog's in a large apartment? Is it too much? Is getting a female better then another male because of dominance? Or are we putting too much thought into our dog being lonely? He's with people 22 hours of the day. Please help our Charchar!

Ok I have moved into a really nice exspensive house. Everything is great but one thing. My dog. She is a beautiful all white lab and chow mix she is crapping all over the place. She didn't do things like this at my other house. I don't know what to do. My new house is becoming a dog kentel. Not to mention my cat is pissing all over the place. I'm going to get rid of the cat and I want to get rid of my dog but i'm afraid she will miss me. If I knew she would be fine and happy there wouldn't be a problem. Plus she is laying all over our new furniture. Her white hair is every where. There was a dog in the house before but that doesn't matter because there was dogs before her at my old house and she never did this. And she is getting into the trash and eating all the food I leave out. I love her. But I also love my house. And having her an out side dog is not an option because my yard isn't very big and it is already full of the other dogs crap. What should I do. Mature answers only

I usually use Frontline plus and I found a place online where you can get it for much cheaper than at a petstore (even cheaper than I can get with my discount) and they had a comparision chart on there, and based on that chart Sentry Pro is the best flea med, has any one had any experience with this one? Does it work, does it not...?

oh yeah, website is http://www.dog.com
