Okay I just got back from getting my haircut when I was talking to my mom about something and this kid was playing with his dog and a truck went driving down the street without his lights on and hit the puppy right in front of the kid who was no more than 5 feet away from the puppy...the truck then slowed down, looked back and then sped away, so I was wondering if you could sue someone for doing this cuz like I said the kid was only 11 years old...

FYI the dog wasn't a little chihuaha, it was more like a hound dog or labrador size dog.

I saw a big box on the side of the road that said FREE PUPPIES and there were puppies inside! They just left them there. I cried all day.

My dog has had her puppies and I don't plan to breed her again. Is there a certain length of time that I need to wait until I can take her to be spayed?

I have 2 male dogs and the oldest is peeing on my furniture. He isn't "peeing" because he has to go, he is marking his territory. He has been fixed and I am ready to strangle him, not really. But I can keep replacing furniture. I know dogs are directed by scent, so is there a scent I can spray on my furniture that will deter him from spraying? Please help!

The dog is an over all well behaved dog. But I am having two problems with him. I have read some about dogs online but need help in two areas.

First, I have an 8 year old cat and an 9 week old kitten. I was told the dog was good with cats. But the dog has been chasing them. I have had to physically grab him by the collar to get him to leave them alone. I also yell "no" very firmly. Today he hurt the kitten when he tried to chase her. Since then I haven't let the kitten out of my sight. But she's a kitten and likes to pounce and play. I can't keep her holding her all day. What can I do to keep the dog from chasing the cats?

Also, the dog likes to bolt out the door and not come back. Yesterday he was almost hit by a car as we tried to get him back inside. I am fearful that he is going to get hurt because we live in Alaska and have a lot of moose around this time of year. How can I teach him to not bolt and to listen?

Classes don't start till January. Need help NOW!

I have an 8 month old Boxer/Shepherd and her 14 puppies in my foster right now. The dog and litter were owner surrenders to the animal shelter for two reasons-the lady didn't want puppies to deal with and she was going on vacation and didn't want to take the puppies and didn't want to pay boarding. Well here we are 5 weeks later and she called the shelter wanting the mother dog back now that she's home from her vacation and the pups are old enough for us (the shelter) to place in homes, so she doesn't have to deal with them anymore. As an animal rescue, it's my job to make sure every animal placed in a home is going there indefinetly. I need reassurance that the dog will not be returned to me, become a stray or returned/picked up by animal control. I don't have that with this lady. But perhaps she'd be willing to follow my adoption policy and if not I can sue her for breach of contract. But I still have to consider the welfare of the dog. In my position, would you return the dog???

I am breeding my standard poodle this winter. I have discussed health test results, and conformation evaluations with the owner of the stud dog. She did not want me to pay her a stud fee. Instead, she wanted pick of the litter. This is fine with me.

Problem is, there are so many variables. What if my girl only has one puppy? What if all the puppies die? At what age must the pick of the litter be chosen so that I can have the people on my waiting list pick their puppies?

I need a list of basic "rules" to be agreed upon ahead of time so that there are no misunderstandings or arguments.

A little boy down the street moved to a new state, he couldn't take his dog with him so my uncle adopted the dog. He has had the dog for a year now. The dog, named Spooky, was abandoned before the little kid adopted him. Spooky was very obediant to the little 5 year old and followed him everywhere. But now that my uncle has adopted Spooky, She will not do anything that is asked of her, unless I tell her to. She listens when i say sit, but she doesn't listen to my uncle or anyone else. She is very helpful to my elderly uncle though. If he falls down, she alerts someone. If she does that for him why doesn't she listen to any of his other commands? and why does she only listen to me?

We just got a new dog and it is crate trained, but sometimes we have to leave it in for 8 hrs or so, not much longer. Is this as cruel as it feels? True knowledge and helpful concerns prefered!!

My Cocker Spaniel "Jack" may be on his last legs. He is my "buddy". Wanted to find an alternative (no not a shot gun) to a vet in the Chicago area. Almost like a dog hospice...Any thoughts?

My dog is primarily an outside dog. He has a vet visit coming up and I would like to get the pine sap out of his fur. How can I do this without trimming his hair. (I think I might actaully have to do this anyway, but any alternatives are welcome.)

My puppy poops huge poops 4-5 times a day. Shes good with always doing it outside and has a special spot she always goes. But seriously is she going to always need to go 5 times a day? They are solid poops and not diareha, and I follow the food's directions of 4 cups a day for a 50+ lbs dog, I don't want to cut back on her food because she is a growing pup and not fat. Any suggestions?

I have a 9 month old puppy, and she loves to "de-stuff" her stuffed toys. I've been letting her do this because my thinking was that she could do whatever she wanted with the toys from "her" toybox.

But the other night she moved on to a couple of pillows from the couch. Did letting her chew up her toys get her started on the wrong path?
