My dog has had her puppies and I don't plan to breed her again. Is there a certain length of time that I need to wait until I can take her to be spayed?

The puppies are now 12 weeks. She has dried up and they're getting along nicely. I was just curious.

I would make an appointment and get her spayed now. If you don't plan to breed her again, that is the responsible thing to do. The pups are old enough and not nursing any more so it would be fine. She will be sore for a few days and the stitches will have to come out 7-10 days after the surgery. Don't let her run or jump up or down off things (couch, bed etc) Try to keep her away from the pups too. They can be rough and not mean to. You don't want stitches pulled out by little puppy nails.
Good luck.

The puppies need to be weaned and the milk needs to be dried up. Proably a total of 8-12 weeks following whelping. Thank you for being responsible and spaying your pet

She can be spayed as soon as the puppies are 8 weeks old. By that time they have already received all their natural antibodies from the mother. Some vets may charge an additional price if her mammary glands are still swollen. Sounds to me like their not from your post. So I'd say make that appointment!!

If the pups are 12 weeks old, she should be okay to spay now. I actually just had a female spayed about 3 months after she had her last litter and she did fine.
