In the eleventh century, William the Conqueror brought the Talbot hound into Great Britain. A white scent hound, the Talbot (now extinct) is thought to be a more recent ancestor of the modern day beagle.

about 14 Th century for the normal beagle. the Beagle- Harrier however was founded in the late 1920s

The breed is very old. Its ancestry is not precisely known. Packs of these dogs may have existed across Britain as far back as before Roman times. They were used as hunters and trackers. Nowadays, they are popular family companions, though they are still used as gundogs. The beagle puppy's search should include acquiring puppy care information and responsible breeder requirements.

Thats a good ? but I have no idea. We had a beagle when I was growing up. He lived for 14 years. A GREAT family dog. His name was "Gomer."
