I think that the site suggests it might be 1908 or possibly 1885 - I'm just skimming the article - when you read it I'm sure that the answer will become clear.

There has always been all three colors of the Lesser St Johns Dog, so that one will in reality is lost in history. But a Chocolate was included with the dogs brought to England from Newfoundland. They were just "put down" as undesireables when born before about 1900 with the idea that they would purge from the breed. Which of course they could not because the same gene that makes them black in it's recessive form makes them chocolate.

Do you mean chocolate Labrador? Well, Labradors originated in Canada in the Labrador province.As for the year, I am uncertain. You might have better luck going to wikipedia

I'm sorry i don't know that but they were thought to be originated in Newfoundland
