Hi, my 16 week old cavalier king charles cross poodle was at puppy pre-school last night when he had a little accident. One of the trainers was coming over to say hello and give him a treat and as they did he got excited and jumped up into the air, as he was landing his body twisted and he fell smack on his side on the pebble-crete ground. He yelped a lot and it made an awful sound when he connected with the ground. We were able to get him to walk with a bit of a limp and he did not cry. One of the trainers checked him over and he did not yelp or show any sign of being sore when touched. This morning he still has a limp and yelps when he puts full pressure on his front foot. I've been told that he might just be bruised and it will take a couple of days for him to get over it but I am worried that it could be worse than this. Has anyone got any advice? Any vets out there with recommendations? I am so worried.....

I have a 2 yr old shih-tzu who we believe may be pregnant. She was sired 3 times the week of Oct 23rd. The male shih-tzu was only 6 months, but I am now finding out that he could be fertile. They did lock. We want to do everything we can to make sure this is a healthy pregnancy for our dog. The first step is finding out and we have been told to wait and see. I don't really know when I should be starting to see symptoms. If she is pregnant she would be about 3wks and a few days.

Does where you live determine the use of newspaper/pads versus letting a dog outside to potty? I've never heard of anyone using the newspaper or these "pads" for long term potty use for pets. Or are they just used while training a puppy? I'm confused....

Apparently dressing up your dog is humane, as dog-clothes are being sold by the Humane Society...

But is dying your dog wrong?

My friend's dog LOVES the water, but some dogs don't. Do you think it's good to dye a dog who likes the water? I would NEVER want to do anything to an animal that made it even the slightest bit uncomfortable in any way, for such a vain and stupid reason.

On an MTV reality show, this lady dyed her cat pink, and that poor cat looked miserable, but there was a subscript at the bottom that said that the animal was not being hurt.

My cat loves water and being brushed and groomed, but that poor cat...

My dog was house trained. She never peed in the house or anything. We recently moved into a house and she had started to pee in the same spot at night when we are in the bed. I do not understand why she is doing this. Doe's she need more attention or what?? The previous owners did have a dog. There is only carpet in the living room and a couple of bedrooms and that is it. Her dog bed is in the living room and that is where she sleeps at night. We put her outside during the day and bring her in at night. Any Advice??

It's in China....They haven't kept up with Rabies vaccinations, causing an outbreak...now the govt. has cracked down on dog owners, saying they are only alowd to have one dog.....I just saw the worst pictures on AOL....one of a dog being beaten to death with sticks and another that was abandoned in the street by two women....who threw rocks at it because it was trying to follow them back home....I just saw this and I really do think I am sick to my stomach.....my heart droped....this is the worst thing I have seen in a long time....I really want to cry but I'm just so shocked right now that I cannot even think straight....oh my God.....I can't do anything about it! SH*T. I tried to talk to my husband about it but he is so into his video game right now....I think he thinks that I am overreacting.....which pisses me of because he loves our dogs like they were our children....

For my whole life I've been feeding my dogs bag food, but recently I've considered giving my new puppy a different kind of diet. Does anyone feed their dogs anything other than canned or bagged food? What are your beliefs on more human like food? and could someone give me a few recipes to make up for her? Lol, sorry for all the questions : / ....this dog is really important to me :)

My new cavalier king charles spaniel puppy has had two sets of vaccinations (parvo/distemper/adeno flu) and will have his third and final booster in December. I'd like to know when it will be safe to take him for walks outside (I live in a city)- ie when he will be considered protected enough to be exposed to other dogs and their waste. I know parvo is very contagious and dangerous for puppies. The vey said that two weeks after his second set it should be ok to take him for short walks, but to avoid areas where other dogs congregate- like parks. She was rather vague about it and before taking any risks I just wanted a few other opinions about this from other dog owners- what did your vets say? I feel so sorry for him being stuck inside all this time, he's going a bit stir-crazy, but obviously I don't want to risk his health. Thanks for your input.

I have an american pit bull terrier (which i used the 7 way shots from the feed store to get her completely vacc.) that has just survived from parvo and now my Teacup chiuhuahua (which is just young) got it and is now getting over it. it has been an awsome recovery for the both (thank God), but now i dont know what to do about my yard and house. my dogs are all in the house and everyone is well now, but it is a virus, and i know it is still everywhere. so i was just going to see if anyone had any suggestions on what i could do. my mom has a little puppy and she is going to the vet to get her shots(which i suggest everyone do no matter the cost) (i just might have to watch her sometime)but of course after she has all of her shots, but i just dont want to have the virus around if i can prevent it in any way or atleast try.

I have a 10 year old cat and 2 one year old kittens. The puppy is almost 6 months old. And he will not leave them alone! He's not trying to hurt them, he wants to play. The older cat wants nothing to do with him. But the kittens are trying to be friendly with him, but then he gets too excited and I'm afraid he's going to hurt one of them.

And when I let the cats out the dog runs out and chases them all over the yard.

We've had the puppy for 2 1/2 months now ... will this ever stop?

her own poop if she goes poop indoors when she knows she is suppose to go poop outdoors? She is a 11 month old chihuahua, she will poop on our daughter's bed, or our spare bed, then she must understand IT'S BAD, so she digs it and eats some of it to like hide it I think. I let her out all the time, I'm always home. Has anyone ever heard of this WEIRD behavior?

How easy is it a dog to catch a cold? I was sick a few days ago and I didn't want to go around my dog because I didn't want to get him sick? Is that even possible? Can they catch a cold from a human? And secondly, every morning when i get up at 6 am I'm afraid to take him out to potty because he's been sleeping all warm with me and then to just take him out in the cold worries me that he may catch a cold. Thanks.
