It's in China....They haven't kept up with Rabies vaccinations, causing an outbreak...now the govt. has cracked down on dog owners, saying they are only alowd to have one dog.....I just saw the worst pictures on AOL....one of a dog being beaten to death with sticks and another that was abandoned in the street by two women....who threw rocks at it because it was trying to follow them back home....I just saw this and I really do think I am sick to my stomach.....my heart droped....this is the worst thing I have seen in a long time....I really want to cry but I'm just so shocked right now that I cannot even think straight....oh my God.....I can't do anything about it! SH*T. I tried to talk to my husband about it but he is so into his video game right now....I think he thinks that I am overreacting.....which pisses me of because he loves our dogs like they were our children....

The Chinese did this years ago under the auspices that the dogs needed to be licensed those that they found unlicensed they exterminated. The theory was that a heavy fee for licensing would keep the dog population down, thus fewer people being able to afford them. My question is what about Spay and neuter? These are serial killers in my view. now they have done it again. Yes, the methods are barbaric. I don't know about these folks. Yes you should be upset....before we can change things here and uncover the abuse here and televise it things that go on right under your nose will continue. Thats why there are animal abuse folks out there....trying to get a response from people like you to make changes. Good luck and feel better.

This is an old story, at least a month or two old. It's wrong what they are doing.

I read that a lady had a dog watching over her goats(source of income) from being stolen and villagers came over and beat her dog to death. It wasn't even a stray dog. Now her goats have been stolen. So it seems they don't descriminate.

As you know a majority of people in china are poor. And if you can buy a puppy for $3 and rabies vaccinations cost $25 it doesn't make sense for them to shell out the money especially if you can't afford it.

It's sad

Its sad and scary. The Chinese gov't passed the law because more than 300 people died from rabies in September. More than 69,000 people were treated for rabies last year in Beijing alone. They have a BIG problem.

I can imagine many people being afraid or nervous of dogs knowing that less than 3 percent were vaccinated.

Obviously creating and enforcing laws for vaccinating dogs is the way to go here. I think the Chinese gov't is headed this way and they want to cut down on the population first.

BTW: The new law makes abandoning dogs illegal. If you don't want your dog you are supposed to turn it over to "local dog control authorities."

This is sad. But what can you expect from a country where women can be forced to have abortions because they already have 1 child?

Let's hear it for China: Oppressive Home of the 2008 Olympics!

I did see that and I am as shocked at the next person. But my question is why were only 3% of dogs in China vaccinated from rabies?

words cannot express how i feel and i hope the most painful, horrible thing can happen to those idiotic gov. people
...and you are not wrong, its killing, nothing should die in such a horrific way, these pets were happy, and so were their owners i cannot imagine their pain i would die if someone was taken away from me

they are killing animals for no reason that is a horrible crime and the people doing that should be arrested because that would be like if they ran out of chemotherapy and killed cancer patients, these people are soo messed up

That is horrible. People are so irresponsible. Thank goodness we live in a society where we can see our own problems and try to better ourselves. Being a dog lover you might like this Yahoo question.

I read the story and it makes me extremely ill. I can't imagine seeing that kind of carnage. I love my pets like family too, and if the government came and beat them BEAT THEM!!! to death with sticks in front of me, I think I would throw myself on top of them to try and save them. This was horribly handled by the government. I am so glad to be an American Citizen today. I hope the Chinese government rots in hell.

I have read about this also, and as far as I know the killing has stopped. You can read about the updates on PETA. Peta is not my favorite organization, because they use propaganda on small children and try to horrify them into their way of life. But none the less there is an update on their website.
