I'm a highschool student who obviously cant bring my dog to school. This usually last 6-8 hours (school+after school stuff) and the dog is alone at home. When I do go home I try to spend as much time as I can. I walk my dog for usually two 10-minute session. I cuddle (hehe) with it for ~20 minutes sometimes. The dog is overly excited when I come home. He licks me so much. He doesn't wreck the place so I don't think he has lonely disorder or whatever it is. He lives in his own room as not to go into the main parts of the house. I put the heat and clothing on for him as not to get cold (winter is approaching) at night. I just don't know if I (or my family) give him enough attention. My brother brings him over to his gf house during the weekend so that's constant attention right there. I'm just worried I'm not taking care of it adequately. What's you're opinion? thanks.

am looking after a friend's dog which is a maltesese and is about 2 years old male. My pup is a 7 month old beagle. My pup's trained and obedient most of the time. friend's dog is sometime a nuisance barker.
My pup is playful and wants to play, the other dog does not, and everytime my pup goes near him he barks and snaps his jaw at her. Obviously doesn't hurt my pup as she still nudges him to play. Then after an hour, my pup will start barking at my friend's dog. Therefore there is constant barking in my house at the moment.
I tell my pup off, and she listens for a minute then begins again. will they learn to get used to each other soon?

Why is an alarm classed as 'going off' when really it's 'going on' ?

If I abide by the leash law with the city(walking my dog on the leash) and my dog goes to the bathroom in my neighbors yard can I get in any kind of trouble with the police?

We brought our 10 week old puppy in for her first shots and they asked us to collect her stool in one of their special containers. We brought back a fresh sample a few day laters and they told us she had roundworms and treated her. Two days later, she develops diarrhea and we took her to a 24 hr vet and they do another stool and find she has Giardia. Why wasn't this detected during the first stool sample, Are they different tests? What exactly is run during the initial 20 dollar stool sample??? PLEASE help, we'd like to know if we picked a compentent VET.

I have a 16 month old male dachshund, and when he turned 1 years old we decided to get a female dachshund. So she was nine weeks when we got her. She has her vacinations all current. But Today I noticed the male trying to mount the female, and the female growled and got mad at him. We want to wait a cycle or two before the female has puppies. So when are females dogs sopposed to go into heat. Does the male dog know before everyone else when the female goes into heat? The dogs get along great but I want to wait a while to have a litter. The female is 7 months old now. So if anyone knows about this sort of thing please reply. My vet said about 9, 10 months before I need to worry about her getting pregnant with puppies. So what do I look out for? Thank you

He usually does it in the morning and usually 2 or 3 times in a row. It's not a lot, but it's kind of gross and I'm a little bit worried. He doesn't do it every day, maybe once a week or so. Otherwise he seems perfectly fine. He is a purebred lhasa apso if that helps.

He spends all day in the garden but sleeps with me on my bedroom and I guess when I don´t see him, he pees because my carpet is starting to have a weird smell (although there are no stains on it). Any suggestion that really works will be appreciated

I want to make my dog's plastic dog house warmer for the winter because she has a hip problem and the cold bothers it. (She's not allowed in the house.) Is it okay to use pink insulation on the inside of the dog house? If not, what else could I use to insulate the house? I really want her to keep warm... but I'm also afraid she won't use the house either. I'm going to put down blankets beneath straw. What else can I do and what about the insulation?

Thank you!!!
Megan

I have a co-worker who says that annual "booster" shots are unnecessary. I did some further research and have found that some vaccinations can actually weaken your dogs immune system and if given too much can make your dog sick. Is this true?

I have a lhasa apso who is brushed each day and goes in monthly for a sanitary cut. Sami is brushed everyday is easy to groom and has a great personality. I am nice, tip $10 on $40 and sometimes bring in cookies (I am obsessed with my dog). Heres what I want: Her feet trimmed, her chest thinned out, a sanitary cut at her rear, and her face shaped up, leaving her forelocks long enough to put in a top knot( one actually cut it off! I almost had a stroke). I have asked for one groomer, but she quit. I have asked, bribed, begged, and even threatened. I am looking for another groomer but it is hard to get in with one in my area. So, she goes to petsmart. I am close to getting a part time job to learn how to groom so that I don't have to put my dog and myself through the monthly trauma. Any tips? What can I do? Help!!!

my dog is 2 years old. I would take her out for walks every few hours and she wouldnt have a problem going out. now when i take her out she lets me put the leash on her but then refuses to walk. i drag her a few steps then she will walk, then she will stop, so i will drag her again. eventually she will walk but it is very difficult. she has always been a little pre madonna kind of dog, but doesnt she have to go to the bathroom? cause she isnt going in the house. even when she has to go to the bathroom she still doesnt want to walk.
