I want to make my dog's plastic dog house warmer for the winter because she has a hip problem and the cold bothers it. (She's not allowed in the house.) Is it okay to use pink insulation on the inside of the dog house? If not, what else could I use to insulate the house? I really want her to keep warm... but I'm also afraid she won't use the house either. I'm going to put down blankets beneath straw. What else can I do and what about the insulation?

Thank you!!!
Megan

Because my father can be a douchebag. I am doing my absolute best to make her comfortable.

Oh, also I am away at college. I don't want to take her to a pound because I know the chances she'll have of being taken home and I couldn't stand leaving her there in that facility. I don't know anyone who'd want her either and I don't want to give her to a stranger... She is a Chow and German Shepherd mix so she is pretty hairy, lol, and she's terribly stubborn about keeping watch on the house and farm animals, so she likes to stay outside.

You can't use the pink insulation without putting something else over it that can't be removed. . It's made from fiberglass and aside from causing ever itching, your dog could also inhale the fibers just by laying or rubbing against it,

I'm curious though why she can't come in the house. Cold weather is really going to bother her hips and could even cause her a lot of pain and discomfort. Do you have a garage where she could sleep instead of being outside?

I wouldn't recommend using the pink fiber insulation in the dog house, unless it was built and finished specifically with that: Those fibers would not be good for your dog's insides.

Now, my parents did set up a doghouse with a strong light to keep it warm for a momma cat that lived outside where they used to be. And it worked well- Until an opossum moved in.

No fiberglass insulation, it can cause allergic reactions and skin problems and if the dog ingest any of the insulation it can kill them, use plenty of straw and face the opening of the dog house facing the opposite direction of the dominate winter winds.

Not unless you put somethin else over the insulation. She will chew and probably swallow some of the insulation. This could kill her.

sure its okay but she may decide to eat it.
Dogs tend to chew things or taste them and this would not be out of the ordinary and it would make her sick blankets would be better and make sure the wind can not get into the dog house you can put a blanket on the floor for her to sleep on
