Look through the web or library for information on housebreaking your pet. Your dog can learn where to relieve herself if you communicate in a way she can understand. It does take repetition and there will be a lot of mistakes during the learning process but once learned you will be much happier. Remember that a dogs needs and thought process is not like a human's, so what you may interpret as being disobedient or bad may just be something else entirely. If you do choose to give her away, please be responsible and make sure she goes to a good home.

She needs to be crate trained. She stays in the crate when not exercising, eating, and when being taken outside to do her business. Otherwise, in the crate. You should have her trained in about a month.
Your commitment to this is following a schedule. She will learn faster by the schedule being the same everyday. You will need to take her on a leash outside to do her business. Show her where it is acceptable to do her business.
If you don't have the heart to put in the commitment, then give her away. She is a great age to be highly adoptable. Chihuahuas are great little dogs, so someone would love her. I would suggest a cat if you are seeking companionship with little training. Kittens are litter trained almost from the get go.

Spend the money on some training classes. You will learn how to handle and train your dog for these kinds of situations. Throwing your pup outside isn't helping as the pup doesn't get it. There are better ways and a trainer can help you alot.

First of all, you don't throw your dogs out the door. Do you yell at her if she pees on the floor or does something wrong? If you do she is just doing it because you have not took the time or just simply said no when she does something. If a dog does something wrong don't yell at them, it just makes them do it more. Just easily say no when your dog is about to do something. When you first got the dog you should of took the time to train it. If your going to take it by the legs and throw it out, you don't need a dog. Just take the poor thing to the SPCA.

I went through the same problem. you have to go to a petco or pet smart they have really cheap dog training classes and they help. you shouldn't throw your dog or hit her, they don't understand that, all that ends up doing is making things worse. you have to train them and that takes time months to years. depending on how much time you spend with your dog. if you cant dedicate yourself to making this puppy part of your life you should find a home for it, someone that can really take care of the dog and dedicate the time. small dogs are hard. i debated giving my dog away for about a year. then it started to get better and truthfully when it does its worth it. but it was very hard work.

I have a book on chihuahuas and it said when it comes to punishing your chihuahua that physical punishment isn't always going to get their attention.
You shouldn't punish them for peeing on the carpet if you find it a while after they did it because they might believe you're telling them that taking a nap or eating, etc [whatever they were doing before you scolded them] was what they were scolded for. It's better to punish them right after or during the action.

If that is the way you treat the dog then you don't need to keep her. Give her to a rescue and they will find her a home with someone who knows how to treat an animal. You don't seem to have that ability.

it seems to me that your dog wants attention .........therefore if she pees on the carpet throwing her out is her way to actually get you to notice her ....chihuhuhuas are very hyper animals you need to give her more attention if she does pee on you rug you have to reprmand her and take her outside or wherever you want her to go then praise her and give her a treat when she goes there.......also you shouldnt throw your animal out the door because she is a baby she doesn't matter it's not her fault ..........in time she will probably get it...dont give up on her yet

Yeah, give her away to someone that will take care of her. Chihuahuas need a lot of attention. I have one and it took me a very long time to train her.
