if you were to line up 100 different breeds of dogs, and you were told to judge the dogs based on what breed showed aggression, barked at people, the ones that were very loving and very playful ext. All of the ignorant people would see that pit bulls are just the complete opposite of how the media portrays them just to make a quick buck on destroying one of the best companions a family could ever ask for! I own two pit bulls and also have owned MANY different breeds of dogs in my life. I can't tell you the number of times other "family" "Cute" "Little" or any other warm fuzzy name that goes along with every other dog then a pit bull have tried to Attach, bite, growl, at my pit bulls, and yet my dogs sit down and do nothing when this happens...I love educating people on mans best friend, People need to relies that all dogs are cute little innocent puppies at one time, some just weren’t given a fair chance at life..its just how people raise their dog. Most dog owners are uneducated.

when i walk her with a leash she begins to bite and tug on the leash and thinks we're playing and then when she gets really excited she begins to jump on me!!! i try to stand still and be firm and i say "down!" but she doesnt listen she is only a 4 months old....wat am i doing wrong

i dont know why he's doing it. he looks so weird. he's practically bald around the base of his tail and upper hind legs. he's treated for fleas, and always has plenty of chew toys.

My dog has had three sets of shots, waiting two weeks between each set. The vet said we can't take her outside even for a walk until she gets her rabies shot. This is to prevent her from coming in contact with any diseases or anything until she builds up her immunity. It just seems longer than I remember with my other dogs. She really wants to go outside. How long did you wait with your dog?

HI im looking at getting a Terrier mix from a local animal shelter yuo can see her by looking up Animal Wellfare Society its in Maine. Well any way does any body know how much money every year it costs to maintain one including vet bills, food, etc.? How much would it cost to set it up for the first year? Its 1 1/2 years old spayed and for $150.00 The fee includes the series of vacinations, a heart worm test, internal and external parisite control, a collar with leash and the offer of discounted obedience classes. Please help

My dog just came inside from playing in the yard and she STINKS!!! I have no idea what it is- she smells like a dead animal but I can't find anything in the yard. She was only out for like 20 minutes so I don't know how she would've gotten something. She looks Ok, is acting Ok, it's not that hot out, she has plenty of water, and she didn't smell before she went out. Any ideas??? Has this happened to your dog?

We recently acquired a one year old miniature dachshund from a family who kept her in an airline crate most of her life. Because of her isolation, she has some major issues when it comes to people. I believe wholeheartedly in crate training. This was not just a crate training situation. She was let out of her crate very little and not socialized AT ALL, which has brought out some major aggression problems with strangers.

She is making progess slowly, and enjoying her new life with her two German Shepherd brothers. Her days are spent playing in the back yard chasing butterflies and terrorizing chipmunks. She finally knows what toys are, and she loves to be cuddled. She has her own doxie bed with a huge quilt that she burrows under.

Physically, she wasn't beaten, but mentally it really did a number on her. We will seek professional help with her if needed. She has a forever home with us, so we won't give up on her.

What are your experiences with your rescued pets?
