Every one if different. Really depends on too many things to list here. I have three, one probably about $800 a year, the other 2 maybe 200.

It depends on several things. She is young and healthy as far as you know so she should not need any vet care until it is time to vaccinate her again in 1 year.
She will need to be on heart worm medication which is a monthly pill. They usually sell a 6 month supply. Make sure she gets her pill on time. If you forget for a few months the vat may want to retest her before putting her back on medication.
Food - If your budget will allow it is always best to feed premium dog food. (Nutro Max, Science Diet etc.) The others are OK just don't feed the cheapest brand you can find.
External parasites is best to use advantage or frontline. Place it between the shoulder blades and you never have to worry about flea baths or powders. Check out omahavaccinecompany.com
Their prices are pretty reasonable.
I would definitely sign up for obedience classes. It makes a big difference.
Is this a house dog? She will also need a dog bed, A crate, food bowls. A dog house if she will be left outside.
And don't forget the toys. This way she doesn't turn your shoe into a toy.
Good Luck

Good for you for wanting to save a dog's life! I got my mutt from a humane society in Texas. We probably spent $500 or so on her this first year, not including dog obedience classes (which were about $100 for 6 sessions). She was already spayed like yours, but we did have to pay for other shots, monthly heartworm, food (we use Science Diet), a plastic kennel, chew toys, soft liver treats (she has expensive taste!), brushes, etc. The expense has been more than worth it. But stuff always comes up. If you go out of town, you will have to board your pet unless you have someone to watch her. You need to have some emergency money if she gets sick. I hope you have the time and resources for her. If so, you could be getting a sweet little friend.

I have a 2 dogs from the Animal Refuge League in Westbrook, Maine. Vet bills can get expensive, but if you look for places that have rabies & vaccination clinics it's cheaper. (some of the pet stores do that) I buy the food at Sam's club. It's cheaper to buy it in bulk. The shots and tests that the shelter gives usually sets you up for the first year. I don't know about the shelter that you're going to use, but the one in Westbrook gives you a certificate for a free first vet visit. Good Luck fellow Mainer!

I cannot help with your question,I am in a different country so I have no idea. I just want to applaud you for doing your homework and getting some idea of cost BEFORE getting a dog. So many people get animals, only to realise the costs do mount up. Feeding a dog really amounts to very little, but vet bills no matter where you are, are not cheap. I do hope it all works out well for you .Good luck.

well here's what you plan for - vaccines and exam once a year. year round heartworm prevention and flea control to last all year. The cost of good food (anything BUT Old Roy). Budget for some toys too. Check out petsmart.com or petco.com, call local vets and get price quotes. Here's where people run into problems, the things you DON'T plan for! Dogs get into fights, get hit by cars, get cut on lawn edging...theres a million different emergencies that can happen to your dog. Just put money away in a savings account to be ready for these things.

At $150 with all the vet stuff covered that is a good deal.
For a 70 pounds dog I spend
$70-100 per year on heartworm pills
$250 per year on food
$25-50 flea control
$50 or so for shots
And who knows how much on extra vet visits.

Candi H must not have a life outside of internet....
.......anyway, the amount it will costs can fluctuate greatly. i have an italian greyhound that hasn't even eaten a whole bag of dog food in 6 months, but she fell off the chaise and broke a leg costing me close to $2000 to repair. if it wasn't for the surprise injury, she'd be the cheapest dog in the world! you'll have to buy frontline and wormer monthly (or buy it bulk online) and you'll have to keep up with vaccinations.
good luck!

Turn the other cheek my friend. Leave It God, God is the great Equalizer, he will take all that's wrong with the world off your shoulders, if you just release your burden to him.
