I had an American Eskimo (male) years ago. He loved my daughter, but he was very aggressive and became more aggressive with age - except towards her. I had to put him on female hormone therapy for his aggression - I had rescued him from the humane society so I can't say what he went through as a pup, but if you raised your voice at my daughter he would wait until you turned around and then bite you in the butt. I ended up buying many a pair of replacement jeans for her friends, but luckily nobody ever sued us. I ended up buying a muzzle, and as much as I don't like them I felt it was better than sending him back to the humane society.

Has your brother hit/abused the dog in any way? Is your brother a young child? Sometimes young children (without meaning to) will hurt an animal by pulling its ears or poking fingers in its eyes/nose and the dog decides it hates them. Also, if a man has abused a dog as a puppy (like if the people that owned it before you mistreated it) then it will take a dislike to the specific gender of the entire human race. If it's just your brother, though, the dog has something against him and you'll need to find out what happened. I would suggest getting the dog securely leashed, and very, very slowly re-introduce them and see if you can patch things up. Start with letting your brother extend his hand just enough that the dog can sniff it, and keep doing this and supervise them at all times until they can start getting along.

Your brother has done something to the dog. Even if he says he hasn't he may have done some small thing to upset the dog,and the dog won't forget it. Your brother has to give the dog treats for a while, and the dog will come around. That's the way of that breed.

He may have a grudge against your brother...he might be cruel to your dog when no one is around...some people say dogs dont remember much but that isnt true...how else would they remember your scent etc for many years...anyways a similar situation happend to me and it turned out that my dog was being hit by my brother when we werent around....i would investigate it. And if thats not the problem then maybe he doesnt like men...he might also think that you are HIS and might have a territorial issue with your brother.

There is something he sees in your brother that he doesn't like. For some reason, your brother poses a threat to him. I know someone that had a dog that was soooooooo nice to everyone, except one person. We never did find out what the dog didn't like about him. This probably doesn't help with your problem....just letting you know that it does happen!

the dog sees your brother as below him in the pack. your brother needs to show the dog that the dog is the low pack member. read jan fennell - the dog listener to get some ideas. have your brother feed the dog and pretend to eat from the bowl first, before he makes the dog sit for dinner.

Dogs sense fear and/or ill intentions. Is your brother afraid of dogs? Does he like the dog? Does your brother have a calm personality?
