I have a pit bull as she is so good and never barks. my neighbor has one too but they are so mean to him and poor dog cries at night. i think if people can't handle them or don't give them time they will be mean to people...if they don't interact how can they learn to behave around others.

The owners behavior detemines the animals attitude towards people. Pit Bulls are not human aggressive, unless trained to be. However, they are bred to be aggressive towards other animals, and need to be watched carefully around them. My Pit Bull has never shown any aggression towards people, and she is 9 years old. She has been raised around other animals her whole life, and her aggressive tendancies still have to be closely monitored. It is what she was bred to do and she can not control her instincts herself. I have to be especially careful around strange dogs. She is very protective and territorial. A true Pit Bull is a separate breed from the Am Staff, they are bred for different purposes, and their appearance is different, even though some will tell you it is not. A true Pit Bull is smaller than an Am Staff, has a narrower head, and is very muscular. An Am Staff is a much taller, larger dog, with a much larger head, and a tendancy to get more body fat after they are neutered. They are companion animals, who seem to love everyone, including other animals. If you ever hear the term "game bred" when refering to a Pit Bull, it means that that dog was bred from proven fighting stock, and was bred specifically for fighting other dogs. These are the ones that you have to be especially careful with. They love their owners and other people, and can get along with other dogs, but are capable of attacking other dogs without warning. and once they start, it is almost impossible to get them off of the other animal.

I have come accross some well behaved Pitbulls, and some not. I think the main issue is the stigma that surrounds the Pitbull breed. Due to social stigmatization, the pitbull is a popular choice amongst some unsavoury dog owners.

I will second that one whole heartedly. My neighbor has the sweetest pitt ever - she loves to come over and play with my dogs. I think it's the people who train them to be mean that need to be outlawed in cities, gathered up and destroyed, not the dogs

I have a friend who has had 5 different pitbulls over the years. The American Staffordshire Terrier is the true American Pitbull and is really quite friendly, loving, and smart. People often breed them with other pitbull breeds, or with pitbulls that have a "fighting" disposition and then train them to be mean and fight.

They arent very popular, me and my sister had a fight about this last night. They were not BORN mean, their trainers MADE them mean. Some people think pit bulls are born mean like how some dogs are born to hunt and stuff. But i disagree

I surely have 4 dogs: a Chow, a Pit, A Pit/Lab go, & a flat-lined retriever. I surely have had an outstanding style of those dogs on account that they were about 6 weeks previous. they have in no way been taught to be mean or agressive. yet, my Chow will chew every person that he would not comprehend in the adventure that they arrive contained in the domicile or attempt to annoy me. it truly is only intuition. My Pit acts agressive to human beings she would not comprehend & could chew if given the probability. She too, is particularly shielding of me & this should be intuition too. Any canine could properly be made mean & regrettably some dogs advance short or undesirable tempers equivalent to human beings can. both way, i does no longer get rid any of my dogs. we like one yet another & it truly is all that concerns. i'm only very careful about how I take care of them even as strangers are round.

pit bulls are as mean as you make them there nice but are more emotional than other dogs which means they can be kinder than other dogs too. At most if a pit bull might need traning if it gets mad but other wise it should be nice as a labrador

they are about as mean as a Chihuahuah. They are really loving to their family and protective of them. I used to have an American/Pit mix that was the sweetest thing in the world. Now I have Chihuahuahsand they are so loveable!

pitbulls have been bred to be animal aggressive but you can stop that it mostly matters about how you raise them if u raise any dog to be aggressive he will be aggressive people are just so scared of them because they are very powerful animals and they can do damage but most pitbulls will never ever even think about biting their owners
