We had 4 dogs, I have 2 purebreed Siberian Huskies, my son has a dog, and my husband has a dog that he got at a flea market about 3 yrs ago.He had actully had the brother to that dog also, but when it developed behavioral problems,he go rid of it.This is the reason I want him to get rid of the other one.I had always planned to breed my Huskies. I love my dogs and know they arnt going to live forever. I wanted to keep one of their puppies, so that I could keep one of their pups and in a way my dogs could still be with me even when they pass on.My dad did this with his Springer Spaniels when I was a kid, so before anyone has any nastly comments to say about that, I dont see anything wrong with it.Unfortunatly, I didnt sell all the other pups. I had one male that I was left with. It happened to be the one my husband likes. I told him I would stop trying to sell it, if he got rid of his dog. It has some behavioral probs too, including biting me and attacking my male huskie for no reason.

I have two other minpins as well and he seeks out there food because I feed all 3 separately. Believe me, he's fast and he's sneaky! But, I want to know how to bring his weight down down without having him act like he's starving all the time.

Just got a dog and it has fleas. It isn't too bad and he hasn't been in the house but 2 days. What is the best way to get rid of them? Do I have to bomb my house??? I don't want to have to do that. If I treat the dog and get it a collar, do I have to do anything particular to my house??? I live in WI if that matters... I know we don't have as big a problem here as in the more hot and humid states with fleas.

My dog is very old (14). shes a golden labrador and is riddled with lumps and bumps which are cancer. they cant operate because there is big chance she wont make it through the operation. She is happy and is always wagging her tail at you when you go near her. she is a bit over weight because her legs are nearly gone with arthiritus, so she cant shift the weight. All she does is sleep all day. My dad said last night that he doesnt think she'll last much longer, probably until christmas. I have grown up with this dog most of my life, and i will be crushed when she dies. How am i going to cope when she goes? People must think its sad, but its just like a friend dying. If you knew a friend for 14 years and they died, i think you'd be sad too. I really want her to be happy and not in pain when her time comes. has this happened to anyone in similar circumstances and how did you cope? thankyou-only genuine answers please, its really making me sad. x

I have adopted my dogs from shelters and I really want to start helping dogs. I already have the needed permits but don't know how to go about getting or finding the dogs. The local shelter will only allow you to adopt or to foster dogs on a temporarialy basis. I see many animal rescue groups on pet finder.com just want to know how to get started.

Quite a while back a friend of ours whose parents are breeders accidently got two of their dogs in the same area (keeping them apart because the female was in heat and younger than they wanted to breed her) and by the time they knew it was too late. Thankfully, since they wanted to hold off on the breeding, they were relieved to find out she didn't end up getting pregnant. But they tell me that with the quality of the two dogs, which they were planning on breeding later anyway, if she'd gotten pregnant than the puppies would have been anywhere from $500 to $2000 each dependant on the quality of the pups. Is this true? They're purebred German Shorthairs, btw, show dogs with all the paperwork. It just amazes me to think "oops, looks like there'll be a litter of $2000 puppies!"

Yes, dogs bark. It's one way that they communicate. They can't speak so they bark. Some dogs barely ever bark and some bark 24/7.

I understand all this.....but where do you draw the line?

Do you think it is annoying when dogs bark out of nowhere to get attention or is it CUTE?

My dog barks when he wants to be let outside or wants to come back in, and if I'm late to feed him. He also barks if he hears someone coming towards the house (although he cries wolf a lot, I'm okay with that).

There are some dogs I know that bark at every....single....sign of life. A door opening, a voice on the speakerphone, a car door a block away from the house being shut.

I'll admit I never taught my dog the "quiet" command but do certain dogs need to be taught this?

that is ok though. You do not really know me and I know myself. First of all, I came into this website to do research on my pregnant chihuahua who is named ANgel. I also read that puppy food is good to give to pregnant dogs. My Angel eats adult food but I heard it is good to give puppy food when pregnant. I am only trying to find out how to take proper care of my Angel. The world being overpopulated by animals is not my fault. This is Angel's first and last pregnancy. So you do not judge me u r such a negative person.

I want to think everybody else for the quick responses and I got alot of good information from all you. Thank you for all of your advice and in being postive instead of judgemental in your advice. I will be taking my Angel to the vet also. Thank you

Whenever someone my dog is familiar with goes outside (even for just a few seconds), he'll start whimpering. I've heard something like this... Seperation anxiety?? How do I get him more comfortable with us leaving?

I'm afraid of when school starts. We'll be gone for a long time and he'll just be at the door whimpering. Thanks for any answers! They are very appreciated.

The puppies are six months old. They are both a Chihuauhua/Poodle/Minature Pinscher mix. One weighs about 9 pounds and the other one weighs about 12 pounds. They are sisters. My vet tech told my girlfriend they should be switched to adult food already. Based on what I have read other places, they should not be switched until they are at least 1 year old. Your feedback is appreciated!

I have a small yorkie who does the same thing with a light ball the size of a basketball. I'll kick it around the yard and she'll chase it and such. When i throw it up in the air she jumps up and hits it back to me with her nose. I had a friend who told me that means she doesn't have a high confidence level. I think shes full of crap, but is there some kind of weird reason behind her idiotic diagnosis? Or is she as dumb as I thought.

(This is mainly to prove to her that I am not the stupid one in this situation.)
