My dog is a Cocker Spaniel/Dachshund. He's small. He's food crazy. I'll give him a whole hot dog, a piece of bread, or a piece of chicken, which he likes all of those, and he won't eat them, he'll just go take it and bury it in my clothes or my blankets. Not outside in dirt. But if I take that same hot dog, bread or piece of chicken and break it up into smaller pieces, he'll eat it. But the pieces of food I give him are NOT big. Sometimes though, he'll chew the food into smaller pieces and eat them, I know he will, I've seen him do it! What the heck is wrong with him?

1st. My puppy refuses to housebreak. I have tried picking her up when she does it and bringing her to her peepads I bought from the petstore. They are blue and by Arm and Hammar. I've also tried newspaper. Other thanthat, I've tried rubbing her nose in it when she does it. I'm up to my wits ends. She needs to learn to be potty trained NOW! What do i do? She's only 3 months so I can't take her to classes yet.
2nd. She keeps biting me when i play with her. It has gotten to the point where skin is breaking. I've tried screaming owe and stop playing with her. And also hitting her on the nose! I need desperate help.

She is a Maltipoo who just came home 2 weeks ago from the hospital with Parvo.

Mine are:
Faves
1. Mutt: any dog rescued from a shelter is an awesome dog. Go rescue one today!
2. Leonberger: big, beautiful, and very gentle and kind. They also don't slobber like St Bernards do.
3. St Bernard: same reasons as the Leo, except that St Bernards slobber everywhere.
4. Pitbull: always happy, fun, and energetic (if it's raised right).
5. Pug: full of energy, happy, friendly, fun, crazy!
Least Faves
1. Chow Chow: mean, nasty; get attached to one or a few people and hate everyone else. I've been bitten by two dogs - both Chows.
2. Weimaraner: stupid, hyper, and full of issues like separation anxiety, etc.
3. Greyhound: same as Weims, except they're lazy instead of hyper.
4. Chihuahua: usually very nasty to strangers (especially veterinary staff).
5. Yorkshire Terrier: I'm sorry I know everyone loves them but I think they're so ugly.
There are exceptions to all rules - and I have liked and disliked dogs of every breed, including those listed here.

We just had some folks here in the Brain from the NY SPCA, which runs a no-kill (they house the pets until they're adopted, rather than euthanizing them after a certain period of time) shelter here in Manhattan. This is what they wanted to hear about from all of you.

He's one year old, we keep him outside, and he often pees on his food, his water, his chewing toys. Any ideas on what could trigger this behaviour and how to make it stop?

My dog likes to go under the bed when there is lightning and thunder. I really don't like her to because she had back surgery in 2003, and I am afraid she will hurt it again. I have stuff under there already but she pushes her way through. Is there anything or anyway I can stop her from going under there?
