The real question IS NOT how to get them off the puppies the real question is to prevent them from getting on them in the first place. DO NOT USE FLEA SOAPS OR PESTICIDES. The environment the puppies are living in is infested. Go to the pet store and get a product called nematodes. They are a natural enemy of fleas. They are harmless to humans. They only eat fleas. They come in 16 oz bottles. It is a dry power. For in the house very lightly wet the carpeting and furniture (if it is not really nice furniture) then lightly power the entire house one room at a time. Take the bedding the puppies use and wash it thoroughly with soap and HOT water. Bathe the puppies in a "water wetting" solution (something like Amway LOC) . (BATHE THE MOTHER TOO AND ANY OTHER DOGS OR CATS IN THE HOME.) This will drown the fleas. Then rinse the puppies thoroughly.
The real answer is to stop the infestation. The fleas are coming from outside. The nematodes are good for outside in the yard also.

1. Take the pups to the vet if the problem is severe - pups can die from flea anemia.
2. Treat your house for fleas and flea eggs. It's not going to solve anything if you get the fleas off the pups if you don't do this.
3. If you have the mother dog there, talk to the vet about which flea product will be safe to use on her while she's nursing (and she better still be nursing because those pups are too young to be weaned).
4. Treat your yard and any areas that connect up to your yard (kennels, side yards, dog houses, etc.)
5. You can safely use a flea comb on the pups if the problem isn't severe and you have done the other 4 things above. Use a glass of water with Dawn dishwashing detergent to put the fleas that come off in the comb in - that will drown them.
Good luck!! You can do it!!

I have to agree with Mrs D answer.
You will also have to get the fleas off the mother, everytime she gets in the bed with the babies the fleas will travel back and forth between her and them.
I dont have a flea problem anymore, but when I did, my vet said to use Adams because it is water based and would not choke the puppies when it was applied to their hair. You will need to use a washcloth to put it on the babies. You can spray it on the mom, just be sure her hair is completely dry before you let her back in with the babies.
The mom licks the babies so the Adams is a safer choice.
Usually any spray that is alchole base will choke the babies.
It is NOT a once and fixed thing, it will be an ongoing treatment to keep the nasty critters off the mom and the babies.

Give it a plain bath with mild puppy shampoo and comb out the fleas by hand as best that you can. Make sure you keep the puppy really warm until its dry all the way. Continue combing out the fleas until its 6 weeks old and then you can get "revolution" from the vet. Its a little expensive but its worth it and it also kills other parasite problems.

There is nothing you can buy commercially.
Four week old puppies are too young to put anything on. I have been told to bathe them in head and shoulders shampoo that it will kill the fleas by doing this 3 times to four times per week.

The vet can apply Revolution.
Most other forms of flea killer are too toxic for the puppy to put up with, without getting sick.
If you cannot afford the vet trip, you can purchase puppy shampoo with flea control, and just shampoo and let sit long enough to be able to remove the fleas, then rinse well with warm water and rewash and condition with puppy shampoo and conditioner that is safe for little puppies.

get flea mouse and put it on them it will kill the live ones for now.
but make sure you wash it off right away. then repeat it 7 days later and make sure you wash it off right away. then give then a normal dog shampoo each time. but make sure you clean there area where they sleep. and clean the mother also with the mouse
and make sure you shampoo her good after the treatments. this should last until they are of age to use normal flea treatments.

Take yer pups to a Veternarian for some serious flea medication. Over the counter stuff doesn't really work well.

bathe the pups with dawn dish soap. it kills the fleas as you are sudsing them up. you will see the dead fleas in the water as you rinse them off. try not to get the soap in thier eyes. it will not hurt the pups and you should also do it to the mom too to keep her from bringing them to the pups. make sure the pups don't drink the water, it may give them a belly ache.. good luck..

try bathing them in some Dawn dish washing detergent. When they turn about 8 wks of age, you may want to take them to the vet for a frontline treatment.
