Human shampoo is okay but it may dry the dogs skin out which will cause itching and flaking. Use baby shampoo or Oatmeal shampoo. And it is okay to apply a little conditioner, just make sure you rinse well. It is best not to use a blow dryer... you may burn the dogs skin.

You're better off with a shampoo made for dogs - it costs about the same as quality human shampoo but is better for them. Otherwise baby shampoo works well - just don't wash them too often you will dry out their skin.

You can use human shampoo on dogs occasionally. However it is best to use dog shampoo. Human shampoo tends to dry dogs skin out.

No it is not okay because dogs/puppies have very sensative skin that produces oil to keep from dryness. If you use human shampoo, it will remove too much oil and cause irritation. Please use puppy/dog shampoo. They get rid of more flees anyways. But if you must, I heard you can use dish water soap.

Here is another view. I just took my pup to the Vet today because he has itched since I got him in mid April. The Vet scraped his skin to check for mange. Nothing showed up. He did two more scrapings.......(My poor baby) Still nothing. He gave him a treatment for mange anyway. Just Revolution on his neck.
He says the best shampoo is human Selsum Blue. Use it all the time because it will not dry out the dog's skin. I had never heard that before........I trust him so I guess I will try it. Just wanted to pass it on......Interesting Huh??

I wouldn't use my shampoo on my dog anymore than I would use dog shampoo on myself.
