1st. My puppy refuses to housebreak. I have tried picking her up when she does it and bringing her to her peepads I bought from the petstore. They are blue and by Arm and Hammar. I've also tried newspaper. Other thanthat, I've tried rubbing her nose in it when she does it. I'm up to my wits ends. She needs to learn to be potty trained NOW! What do i do? She's only 3 months so I can't take her to classes yet.
2nd. She keeps biting me when i play with her. It has gotten to the point where skin is breaking. I've tried screaming owe and stop playing with her. And also hitting her on the nose! I need desperate help.
She is a Maltipoo who just came home 2 weeks ago from the hospital with Parvo.

I would contain her and she would refuse to pee on the pads. After 5 mins of baby sitting, i would let her go, and RIGHT AWAY,SHE WOULD PEE ON THE CARPET. and she has been cured of parvo for 2 weeks now. She should be absolutely fine. But i can't take her to classes because of it. I just need a lot of help. :(

What to do:
keep her in the kitchen at all times, and put up those baby gates to keep her out of the rest of the house
take her out at certain times during the day, and let her walk around until she relieves herself
do this for a while, and also by keeping her and her peepads in the kitchen (which is not carpeted), you won't have such awful messes
keep doing this and eventually she will learn that when it is time to pee is when she goes outside, I promise it works, and this way when you get home from work during the day, you can let her out into your fenced yard while you go back in and let her out for a few minutes till she has done her business and is ready to come back in
2. Did you adopt? Maybe she was mistreated in her former home. I wouldn't hit her on the nose ever. Just say NO really loud when she does that, and just dont play like that anymore till she learns her lesson.

ok........
You need to just let her stay out for a while until she pees and you need to go back in the house so she sees that it is not play time
get some of those child gates and keep her in your kitchen ONLY, keep the peepads, etc around, but you need to monitor her for a few days all day long from the time you wake, feed her, then lether go out and be by herslef
later go out to bring her back in
just do this for a while, but the main thing is do it 2-3 times a day so she can start seeing what you are doing, it will take an effort on your part to watch for when she might be ready to "go" outside.
It wont be easy..just stick to this plan, be consistent, and don't ever let her go in any other part of the house.
Just keep letting her out everyday, and eventually she will catch on. It might take a while, just dont do one thing one day and another the next, this confuses her, and she will never learn this way.
Pick a way (preferably my way, because I know it works, my boyfriends mom has done this with her dogs for 10 years or more) and stick to it! No changes.

I really think the first thing you should do is go to the pet store or local book store and buy a book on dog training to help you better understand how a puppy learns. Housebreaking is not that hard but it does take some time. The puppy is going to have to go to potty about 10 to 30 minutes after they eat and right after they wake up in the morning. This would be a good time to try and encourage going on newspaper or peepads, better yet take the puppy outdoors. Once the puppy has done business give lots of praise. I used to take my puppy out and say the same thing before we went "need to go bathroom or Potty" Then he would go and I would praise (really make a big deal out of it) and say "GOOD Bathroom or Potty" I would try and catch him before any accident happened and take him out so I could praise him. After a little time you will be able to figure out when she needs to go. If I caught him in the act I gave a harsh "NO", "OUTSIDE" and I would pick him up and take him outside. He got the idea very quickly. Do not scold or punish the dog if you do not catch him in the act. The puppy does know what he has done wrong. Putting his nose in the mess will do nothing for you and just confuses the dog. The biting has to stop. This is important for later in life, the dog needs to understand that we have sensitve skin unlike her litter mates. Start by pulling your hand away very quickly and start to cry /whine "oooooouuuuuuch" If this does not work you can give the abrupt "NO" and put her in time out. I gave some physical punishment, such as a swatt on the butt with a small piece of newspaper. What ever the punishment it needs to be an abrupt change so the dog knows something is not right.
The main thing is to get several books on training and read them and find out what will work best for you and your dog.

First of all, your housebreaking expectations could be a little high for your baby, ESPECIALLY if she has had parvo. Most puppies can't be completely housebroken until they are 4 to 5 months old. Also, different breeds are easier to housetrain than others. My suggestion to you is for you to note her potty habits ie. how long after she has eaten or had a drink, does she go? Take her water up a good hour before bedtime. Once you have figured out her pattern (reasonably well) take her to the pee pad, and confine her to it, either by putting her on leash or get yourself a small pen. When she goes, put a command to it (I use "hurry up") and tell her what a good girl she is while she's doing it "Good hurry up.....good girl". You'll be amazed at how quickly a puppy can learn to go on command.
Now, as far as the puppy biting goes, now is the perfect time to teach her that you are the boss, and therefore, you do not put up with her biting. When she puts her teeth on you, take your thumb on the inside of the bottom jaw and your pointer finger on the outside and pinch, hard enough so she says "ow". You don't say a word.......It won't take her long to decide that your hand bites back and she won't want it in there......Good luck and please.....don't hit your baby......you'll only make her head shy.

I havent read all the answers since they are sorta long, but I do know that if your puppy pees where its not supposed to NEVER rub its nose in it and dont even yell at it. I have tried that and it doesnt work. you have to use praise when it does something good and thats it! also NEVER hit a dog!!! I had a dog once that would bite like that alot and I was told to do 2 things 1> hold its snout until it stops crying or 2> pinch its top lip on the side, it doesnt hurt them but it makes them stop biting. Good Luck and BE CONSISTANT!!!! oh also if you have any major questions ask me then I will ask my BFs mom because she has been training dogs for over 25 years.

First of all the pup needs to be taken outside to go potty
If it is 3 months old , you need to walk it first thing in the morning then mid -day ...then evening before bedding down.Remeber , they are animals, and the outdoors is where they do most of thier ummm ..activity. As for the biting that is thier way of playing. If it happens to be too rough , then stop the play, but dont hit the dog (espesially in the nose) that can make them hemorage and die
. even a light tap on the nose can do it. And , they will just think you dont love them. Instead.. scold it , then place it in the bathroom alone for a while .do that until it stops the biting. It will soon catch on.......bite ....bathroom association is the best way to train a dog. what kind of dog is it(breed) ? email me and let me know how you do. carolyn_phillips3@yahoo.com
PS... when scolding always use the word NO..in a tone.

First of all I have an 8 week old puppy, you are not supposed to used puppy peepads and you are never supposed to yell at your puppy to train it. I am crate training my pup and she is now trained. Put her in a crate that she has only enough room to move in a circle. They will not potty where they have to sleep. Take her out and put her back in there after she is done going potty. I would take my puppy out and leave her in the living room with me for an hour if she had an accident you take it outside and then come back in and put her back in the cage. It worked for me and I have a breed (chow) that is hard to train. On the biting thing I'm still working on that but telling her no and giving her one of her toys seems to be working.
Good Luck

You could try the doggie diapers until she learns. I'd clean up the messes she made and put them on the peepads so her scent is there on them. I'd also move them to where she is trying to go now. When she makes a mess, say bad dog, put her over to the peepad that has her scent on it, let her sniff it and say good dog. Use the good and bad words consistant so she realizes bad is bad and good is great. She'll learn in time. Do the same, bad dog, when she bites or nips. Also say NO, and make her sit, then start using NO, SIT for when you want her to sit. Be very repetitive, it takes time but it will work.

You need to get a kennel and crate train her. There are a ton of references on how to do this properly. This is the best way to housebreak a puppy, and also keeps them out of trouble.
As for the biting, stop using your hands for toys. Get toys that she can chew on without you having to hold them. Also, when she nips at you, you can either place your hand over her muzzle, closing her mouth, and also asserting dominance, or by pinching her lip as she has hold of you. There are many really good references on this as well.
What ever you do to train her, you need to be consistent and clear. And everyone ( yes, everyone) that comes in contact with the puppy has to do the same thing. She is a baby, and she doesn't know any better. She also does not speak your language. So it is up to you to learn to speak hers.
Remember, be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day, and I've never seen a puppy housebroken in a day either.

the humping main issue might be for the reason that it's getting sexually lively for the primary time. If your dog has now not been neutered then that probably a main issue, for the reason that neutering your dog could frequently support. Neutering is while the vet de-sexes the puppy, in order that it's sterile and not able to have dogs. It might support manage your humping disorders. The dog is also charging you and biting you for the reason that it's bored or is ununsed to you if it is extremely new. Spend time with the dog attending to understand it and gambling with it, and also you might take a look at shopping it a couple of extra toys to support preserve it entertained. Another alternative is what we do for my puppy, even though he not has any disorders, is you deliver them pigs ears. Not recent or some thing do not fear, and it's going to sound bizarre however it isn't. THey love them and it is going to support preserve it biting anything else and now not you

Oh well my dog does that too. Be patient, we bought the pee pads too. Don't rub the nose in it she will just get mad and maybe scared that your mad at her for something she doesn't know what she did wrong. When she goes on the pads say AWWW!!! GOOD GIRL! Pet and give treat. Eventually my dog went one time on the pad and i rewarded him. I can teach you how to train your dog without going to take classes since I went and will help you. email me lucky321lynn@yahoo.com if anyone else emails me i will just delete it and put it on spam so please dont i just want to help out.
Yeah thats what happens when you hold them stiff on the pad. They just make you madder by peeing on the carpet. Get a baby cage and get and area where she can stay without the carpet like the kitchen or garage and put a peepad in there. Be patient and gentle your forcing her she will learn eventually
