block it so she can't get under or just care for her and show her that you will protect her.

Your dog is looking for a secure place to stay during the storm. They will usually choose a confined area that is relatively dark, so provide the dog with an alternative area to feel secure, close to the bed since this her area of choice. Give her a small, just big enough to get into & turn around, crate & cover it with a towel or blanket to provide darkness. When you see the nervousness begin, lead her to the crate & put her in, then close the gate. After a few times she will learn that this is a safe place to hide & it is her special place to go. She'll go to it on her own to seek refuge from the storm. You might, also try a flower essence formula specifically for fear of storms. They can be very effective and are not at all expensive.

Hi, If you know there is a storm coming put her in a crate and give her a nice treat that you only give when a storm is coming so she will have a good association with the storm instead of just bad things. Put her in a room and cover the crate so it's like a cave she will feel more secure it'll be just like being under the bed. It will ease her stress, some dogs are very sensitive to loud storms etc

Get her a dog house in a corner of the room. With a cloth loosely put over the door. Several times a day, show it to her until she gets used to it. Then if it starts to storm and she still wants to go under the bed, pick her up and put her in the dog house and put the cloth down over the door. It might take a couple of times, but she will learn that is her safe place.

Unfortunately, when a dog is afraid of thunder, you'd best stay out of their way! They are much stronger than we think, and when they feel that they are in danger, survival instincts kick in, and their strength is unbelievable.
The only choices I can think of would be to either put something totally around your bed, so there is no way to get in and nothing to push through, or remove the box spring completely, and put your mattress directly on the floor so there's nothing for her to crawl under.
Have you asked your vet for suggestions? I work for a vet, and there is a medication called Acepromazine that calms an animal's nerves for storms or even traveling. The tablet(s) is/are usually given 1 1/2 - 2 hours beforehand. With traveling, it's easy to judge that, but with storms, it's a bit harder. You never know the exact moment a storm will arrive, but you can usually estimate. I'd ask your vet about it. We have a lot of patients that use it for storms. Good luck!

A lot of dogs will go under the bed during a thunderstorm. My old dog use to do that and would bark so we wouln't want her under the bed. What we did was kept the door shut and distracted her by putting peanut butter on her nose. Sometimes that didn't work so we would put her in a room where there was a table and put a long blanket over it so it acted like a bed and she went there. Each dog is different and i hope your dogs back stays better.

Put the dog on a strong leash during that time, or put a thick mattress or two under the bed to where there's no room to get in. Or, during a sunny day, play a sound effects CD or tape of rain and thunder and make sure the dog sees outside that there's no rain.

It's very easy to change a dog's mind just like it is to change a child's mind. When there is thunder or lightening never tell the dog "it's ok" because then they think there is something to be afraid of. Play with the dog and give him a treat and then before long they associate something good with the storm. Good Luck.

You could try putting some thing heavy under your bed that she could not push to get under there or board up under your bed. When the lighting and thundering starts sit with her and talk to her.,reasure her. Take her mind of whats going on outside.Good luck

theres certain sprays made for pets that give off a really bad odor to them but not humans, you can try spraying this under your bed or if your pet is afraid of a certain object you can always put that under there. also does she have a crate? If so that should be her first place to run when she's scared because a dog feels safest in its crate especially if you make it homey and put a blanket and some familiar safe objects and there with her. good luck

Block the pathway to going under the bed. My Maltese goes under the bed for peace and quiet. I can't blame him. We even have a comforter under there for him to lye on. Can you raise your bed up? That would be another solution so that he doesn't have to scrunch down to get under the bed. Thunder scares me so I can imagine how a dog feels. Can you hold your dog during thunder storms? That would be comforting too.
