They make special tablets you can put in your dogs food to help neutralize the acids in their urine. It's not harmful to the dog and it will help your lawn. They sell them at www.drsfostersmith.com . They are not expensive, either.

If the dog has favorite spots where it does its job, sprinkle cayenne pepper in those areas and once his nose senses that pepper, it usually helps curb their desire to go on the grass. It won't hurt the grass.

Make a dog run and let the dog do his/her business there; or train the dog to go where you want it to go; walk the dog more often and say 'good pee' when done; best thing - train train train the dog.

I have yet to try it but you can order coyote or a wolf's urine and spray it around your yard, They will stay away out of fearful respect.
