My roomate has two cats and apparently she doesn't know how to buy cat litter, I don't think it's my responsibility. Is there anything I can find around the house to replace store bought cat litter?

I have a 15-year old cat whose kidneys are failing. I've read he needs a low protein diet, but have no clue what to feed a carnivore who won't eat veggies. He's not digesting his food right because of the protein in his food not going thru the kidneys right, and he's basically a walking, furry bag of bones. I realize soon he'll probably have to be put to sleep, but he still seems happy and purrs, so at this point I'd just like to put some weight on him. So far all I can get him to eat without meat or fish is mashed potatoes and cream gravy (from a mix, no real meat or milk in it). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The vet said she was "empty" so they were not able to get a sample. I dont know if it is normal for this mucus-blood after this procedure. She is active like normal.

I have an outdoor cat that had a spot on the side of her head and the side of her neck earlier in the week. I assumed it was from a fight or something may have bitten her. At the time it didn't seem to be botherinig her. But today, I noticed that she has scratched her fur off both sections and scratches to the point that they bleed. I plan on taking her to the vet first thing in the week, but am just wondering if anyone knows what this could be and anything that I can do at home in the meantime to make her more comfortable.

I adoped the feral cat because my house cat adopted her first. My house cat, and now the feral cat, have been fixed. Is there anything I can do to prevent the feral cat from peeing on the furniture?

I've noticed a change in the last month with my 13 year old cat. She's never had any medical problems. Lately, she won't let me brush her, so I ended up having to shave her, which I then noticed how thin she's getting. I can feel (see) her bones. I'm not sure how much she's eating because she shares her food with two other cats. The last 3 days, she has been a little weak and is sleeping more than usual. I plan to take her to the vet next week, but just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this with their cat?? Is the end near?

I heard about one person using it on their dog to calm down before shows. Wondering if it is safe as my cat is showing extreme anxiety of an unknown cause. Would you spray it on his paws or in his mouth?

I was sitting down near my kitten, and i held my hand. It kept closing it's eyes...but soon opened them again. After a few times of eyes opening and closing, i saw the had a little bit of water in her eyes. I finally got the chance to stroke her, strokes her for a few times. Then it started to make this sound, not so sure if it was a growl or a purr. 2nd time i stroked it's head, it moved back. I am hesitant to touch it, shall i just wait til it gains more confidence..and why did it open and close it's eyes?

I'm not complaining or anything... But, my cat (Meeko, male, Age 4) is so affectionate with me.
Example: If I'm walking around he'll jump off of a counter or a table and jump right on to my back and won't let go. He wraps his arms around my neck, purs and licks me all over my face, and plays around in my hair.
Also, he follows me everywhere!! He won't leave me alone! I even try to run away from him and hide, but he follows and finds me!
He also sleeps with me every night... And, even wakes me up in the morning (he brings his toys to my bed, so I can play with him)
I'm just wondering, are most cats like this? I really love my cat, he's like my best friend - but sometimes I don't feel like playing with him all the time... IF I DONT play with him, or if I ignore him, then he'll just come up to me and bite me...
PLUS, I am the only person in my family that he is affectionate with. He never plays or licks, or purs when he's near other family members - and he also attacks everyone but me!

ok, so i always try to search other questions b4 i ask one but i didnt do so well this time. im trying to figure out if my cat has fleas, its very odd beacuse my cat seems to be only infested on her lower back above her tail. i thought there were a swarm of them tho bacuse of all the black specs. someone said the black specs are flea poop? correct? i dunno, i saw all the flea poop all over and then i saw this brown looking small worm on her skin that ran off in her fur, im not familiar with ticks, but i thought they latched on, he was running......i need to know what my cat seems to have, and how to rid her and the other two cats of it. i just applied hartz flea and larvee drops to their necks and bit on the ones lower back.......i want to get rid of the "poop" though for her, someone suggested dawn dish soap to clean them with, is that ok for them? and if i do that ill be washing all the hart flea stuff off, shuld i buy more and get the 3 in 1 for fleas, ticks, and larvee?

This is halarious. Mydaughter called today and told me that her 3 young kittens got locked out of where their litter box is last night, by accident. She woke this morning and noticed that it smelled in the bedroom, looked around the floor, didn't see anything. Slept out on the couch till morning. This whole time her live in boyfriend is asleep in the bed. When she went back in the bedroom, she noticed the smell, and looked around some more, under the bed, etc. Then she looks ON the bed, and her boyfriend is asleep on his side. Up an down the side of his body is 5 different piles of cat poop. All different shapes and color, so she knew it was all three of them. Of course he was covered up with the comforter, so it wasn't on his skin. By this time I was laughing my *** off, and so was she. She could hardly tell the story, she was laughing so hard. I told her to check his shorts for skid marks. I can't understand WHY would these cats choose him to poop on? LOL

i have a 7 week old kitten and he loves attention but when it comes down to us playing he bites really hard, does this mean he is going to be a visious and aggressive cat when he grows up or is this just part of his learning curve in life

My cat suddenly lost interest in food and water about four days ago. I took him to the vet immediately. The vet can't find anything wrong with him. All test results are normal including bloodwork and xrays. He's been getting shots of fluid but this is getting expensive with little results. Am I just being jerked around? I spent $250 for 2 visits and my cat is just getting weaker. I don't have much money and have been charging the bills on my credit card. Any advice?

One of my cats is pregnant. The pregnant cat is just over a year old (I put off getting her fixed and she escaped around thanksgiving and came home a week later with a belly, will get her "fixed" after kittens are weened). My other cat is a 2 year old spayed cat. The older "fixed" cat is a sweet cat, but shy with strangers and children. She's close with the pregnant cat (grooms her and plays with her), they've been house mates for over a year. Should I try to keep the non-mama-to-be cat away from the litter when it comes? Would it be OK to wait and see how she acts around the babies? She's not an agressive type. We want to do thes best we can for all the cats (2 ladies and the soon to be babies). Any advice would be nice. Thanks:)

I got my cat when he was 6 weeks old and had already been neutered. I have four other cats (2 male, 2 female), and two big dogs. The cat is definitely the alpha of all of them. He controls all the cats and has begun trying to display dominance over the dogs by jumping up and biting them on the backs of their necks, like a male does a female cat. I've never had a cat like this before. What should I do about it?
