I heard about one person using it on their dog to calm down before shows. Wondering if it is safe as my cat is showing extreme anxiety of an unknown cause. Would you spray it on his paws or in his mouth?

Hi there...certainly! Rescue Remedy is a safe homeopathic remedy for anxiety not only in humans but animals. For cats rub one or two drops behind the cat's ear.

I would suggest neutering as well, although I would suggest, it is less tramatic for the animal at a young age, and they do get rid of all the bad habits but they are still generally active and playful. Try and buy it a scratch post and put catnip on it now and then and then maybe it will "bond" or so with the post and scratch at it. I hope the best of luck as I dont have that much experience with cats because they've never been that much trouble for me. OH YEAH, Declawing is another one, that will stop it right away, it isn't that cruel as people say it is, what does the cat honestly have to use those for anyway if you want it to be gental and what not. Both in my opinion if were going to be emotionally damaging, I think that declawing would settle him down more, meanwhile neutering may not have any effect to this but gets rid of the bad behavior.

I would say it is very good to use. It is a homeopathic medication, and a lot of rescue leagues use it. There are different kinds of flower essences. it is made by Bach. They tell you to add directly in the mouth,or in their food, water bowl,or on a treat. 4 drops Rescue Remedy, 2 sprays of the rescue spray. I think it is better to put in their mouth or on a treat, than in a water bowl (it would be watered down, and they would probably not drink all of the water. It is recommended by vets for a number of things, visits to vets, fear of loud noises, excessive barking or hissing, separation anxiety, and much more. They will send you a free chart if you call 1-800314-BACH, if you live in United States, Hawaii,or Alaska

Rescue Remedy is a combination of five flower essences developed by Edward Bach, a English physician of the 19th century. He developed a total of 38 essences in his lifetime to treat his human patients. He was one of the first physicians to recognise the connection between the spirit and the body and the effect that emotions can have on helping people with physical illness by using the flower essences instead of drugs or other medicines, or in conjunction with their use.

They are not "homeopathic" as that is another discipline entirely developed by a German physician in the 18th century. Both homepathy and the use of flower essences are much more widely used in England and Europe because of their origins.

Rescue Remedy can be used with animals and is used by people. It is particularly effective in dealing with shock, trauma, fear and pain in an emergency situation. It can help stabilize an animal emotionally before and on the way for emergency veterinary treatment. The RR combination is also helpful with a cat coming from a shelter or rescue situation to help it adjust to a new living situation.

The essences are preserved in 20% brandy and cats do not like the taste so it is best to put them directly on the cat's fur between their ears. Dogs drink a lot of water and so drops can be put in their water bowl. For birds you can put drops on the feathers or in water.

The essences can be used individually or in any combination you wish to make up by mixing them together. Vine can be used for aggression in an insecure cat, Holly for animals who suffer from jealousy, Mimulus for nervous conditions and fears, Wild Rose for apathetic or listless animals, Walnut before or after a major move to help break links to old places of residence, etc. There are professional practitioners whom you can consult for help with behavior or emotional issues affecting an animal.

The essences are energetic in their effect and can not harm a person or animal nor interfere with any medication or treatment given by a vet.
