The cats I have known to be kept inside are unhappy and hyperactive. I know there is a lesser chance of them developing certain contagious diseases, but would you not rather a cat had a short and happy life, than long and frustrated?

can we feel grief for an animal, does it go away. My home feels so empty without the cat, he was much loved by me and my friends. he had cancer in his gums and was 17 years. I stayed with him while he was put to sleep and brought him home and buried him inthe garden in the place he liked.

He is 5 months old and is the terror of the street, he eats our neighbours' cat's dinner and then our neighbours' dinner (we do feed him- he always has food available to him! ) He's been brought back from a couple of different houses when they have had enough. They all say they love him, but he's too much of a pest! He scares their cats! What can I suggest they do to keep him out- I worry that he'll come back one day with an air rifle pellet in him, or something, as he'll have annoyed someone one time too many!

I am away in the days at work, and sleeping at night, so I cannot always "shoo" them off 24/7. I saw something called the "Scat Mat" online, but they are like $50+ which is expensive. Does anyone know where I can find cheap Scat Mats or good alternative?

The local pet store has one for $3,000. Is that too much, or too little? What should I expect?

I have taken him into the vet for this problem before a few months ago, and she fixed it by giving him a shot to stop the sratching for one month and an antibiotic. This time I do not have the money to take him to the vet. What should I do? Has this happened to anyone before?

Evey, the larger of the two grabs the other around the throat. Gabriel meows and it sounds like he is crying out in pain. They do this quite often, and it always Gabriel who sounds like he is getting hurt. This is my first set of kittens, so I don't know very much (but I'm getting better). I appreciate all of your answers.
I have only had Gabriel since Monday (but they get along quite well aside from this), could this be Evey asserting herself as the dominant cat in the household? When will it stop, I don't want Gabriel getting hurt.

Nubbins (the kitten) is part jungle cat, part manx. The little dear is quite nice, but she keeps ambushing me! How do I teach her that this is naughty?
I'm having trouble typing right now because keeps attacking my feet and the keyboard…
AAAAUUGH! BAD KITTY!
But seriously, how do I teach her?

I have a Singapura breed which is of South East Asian decent and I was wondering if it is normal for her not to hiss. Catnip has no affect on her as I read that this is a hereditary trait and very common for cats of Asian decent to have no reaction to catnip. I've had her 2 months and she's never hissed - I even got this toy called the play paw which I put over my hand and arm and she attacks and plays with but is yet to hiss. Is this normal that she does not hiss or has she just had nothing to hiss about. She meows constantly but never hisses. Any idea if this is normal?

Is it normal for our 1.5 yo male cat to exhibit mother-like behavior towards our new kitten, grooming, etc? The male kitten keeps trying to lick the big male cat's nipples, and pushing his head against his stomach, like he's trying to drink milk. The adult male cat lets him do this, and keeps licking him all over, especially the kitty's head, while the kitty does this. Isn't it odd for our male cat to act like he's the kitten's mother? The kitten's 12 weeks old, seems a bit old too for that behavior.

Our cat is 3 years old. He is driving me crazy. Every morning when I get up, I give him food & water, then I go make my pot of coffee and take my shower. When I come back out, he runs around my feet, practically tripping me as he races me for the kitchen area where his feeding bowl is. He acts like I never fed him! Usually there is actually still food in his bowl, but he'll sit there and meow forever. What the heck is wrong with him, alzheimers?
