Sometimes they meow raspy because they think it is sexy. My cat, Miss Kitty, even does totally silent meows from time to time. Just keep your eye on your cat for a couple of days and see if the meow goes back to normal. It could be something as simple as that time of the month, you know...if it's a she. If it's a he, then he has his eyes set on you.

I remember when one of my first kittens lost his "meow". He was also so vocal with an "opinion" on everything. I thought I might never hear it again! He got it back after a few days and hasn't stopped meowing since - fourteen years now!

So, I don't think it is a serious thing or a matter for great concern. It is something I have never discussed with a vet. You might even call the vet office. The receptionist may have dealt with the question before and might have a quick answer for you, such as "if it doesn't come back in a few days bring the cat in", etc.

When ever a pet has a problem you should check with your Vet. That being said you can contact your local library reference desk and ask them to look up books that deal with feline problems shush as yours. Also if you have fed your cat table scraps with bones (like fish or chicken) the cat could have scraped its throat or even have a small piece of bone stuck in it. The only other thing is if you were away for a longer than normal amount of time and the cat was crying all the time you were gone. That would leave your cat with a sore throat. Cats can be hard to treat as you can't get them to gargle with salt water or have them suck on a throat losage. If the cats voice doesn't come back by tomorrow you should take it to the Vet is the best advice I could give you...When in dought...have it checked out...

Well, first I don't know how you can tell if your cat has laringitis so what I would do is take your cat to the vet and ask him because I don't know if your cat has laringitis. Your cat might have to have meds if they do have laringitis.
Well good luck!
