I think your 3 year old is simply asking you to spend a little more time with him playing. Bored cats can become really pesky or outright destructive - you know - scratching, urinating etc. where they're not supposed to or just plain driving you crazy. Set aside at least 30 mins a day to play and groom your kitty. You'll find a big change in his behavior once you establish a play-grooming scgeduled routine. I trained my cats to leave me be in the mornings by simply keeping them in my room (where there's a kitty litter box too), closing the door and having my 1/2 hour morning coffee. THEN I feed them, pet them and talk to them before getting on with work. I play and groom them in the evenings.

Who knows what cats think, there strange little beasts.
Your cat may want a change in food, as some of the others have said, or he could want some attention, such as playing a game, or cuddles and pats.
I have a Manx cat, who is 3 years old. She races me around the house, weaving in and out of my feet, lays on the bed when I am trying to make it, purring her head off, she also flushes the loo. When I have a shower she has to smooch up to my face, if I don't give her any attention, she will attack my ankles (playfully) or stork me until I give in.
Mmm cuddles on her terms never on mine, that's cats for you.

That's so cute.
You have to look at having a pet, like having a kid.
They go through stages. Sounds like your cat is still a youngster and just wants to play. Try taking time out in the morning to play with him. Invest in a few cat toys, (they have some great ones out now days)...and just play. Get him a brush and when you're done playing brush his hair for a bit. This is also good for the cat and reduces hair all over your house and clothes.
Have fun with your cat....It's not just about food and clean litter boxes. You're his only friend.......
Play hard! ! ! !

need more info about your cat. male? female? spayed, neutered? personality type, i.e. is your cat a loner, or does it cling to you constantly? cats overall are social animals and sometimes they need to be around other cats. There could be a number of reasons why your cat is doing this. I would try not closing your bedroom door all the way and see if your cat will just push it open to come in without doing all the crying.

Are you sure you're feeding him the correct type of food in the correct amount? If not, you may want to talk to your vet about this. Otherwise, it could be that he wants attention, or is just a really, really hungry kitty! Good luck! :o)

Cats, particularly male cats seem to seek affection after eating. Pet him, stroke him pay attention to him for a few minutes.
I think they are trying to say........thanks for the food.

Maybe he just wants a new food.
Try mixing his current food with something new so it doesn't upset his tummy. I have a pooch that does that.
