Hi there...any of the local animal shelters will neuter for a nominal amount and some will do it for free if you are considered low income. Every location varies on prices (e.g. anywhere between $15-75).
Un-neutered male cats will begin to spray urine around the home to mark territory. Neutering is the only way to control this and not doing it as soon as possible will make the spraying behaviour harder to stop as this becomes habitual long after it begins.

It depends. Spaying costs a bit more, but some vets do it by weight. I've heard it was around $75, up to $115 (for kittens I was told by my vet). For a cat, it might be a little bit more, but being a male, the procedure isn't as difficult as it is for female spaying so that will dip down the cost. Call your vet, or rather a few vets in the area. Alot of vets also offer clinics, where they do spaying and neutering at reduced rate (and these come with vaccinations too if your cat needs them at no additonal charge) for one month a year.
The benefits? Where do I begin? Your cat will not spray, be less territorial, not as likely to fit, and in general, be a bit more mellow. Cats personalities don't change, they just get less aggressive because of the loss of hormones, and plus, they tend to live longer and be healthier when they are fixed.

if you are low income (and sometimes not) most cities in the U.S have a spay or neuter for free program. One pair of cats can begin the procreation of over 100,000 cats this is why cats are put to death or abandoned everyday, over population, be respomsible and have yur cat "fixed" call your local animal shelter for more info. If you do not have the procedure done you can expect from a mature (over 10 mos usually but earlier sometimes) male cat stinking urine spray all over your home and clothes which will never come out and if it is a female she will caterwaul like she is dying when she is in heat. be kind to your pet and to yourself have the procedure done.

If you dont get that male cat neutered, you will be sorry. Male cats mark in much the same way that dogs do,however with a cat they wont lift thair leg they will back up to something lets say your couch and spray it. the smell is something you never can get rid of and never can find unless you see him do it.About the price, you can get a cat fixed at your animal services department, provided he is up to date on his shots for about fourty dollars.
