He is 5 months old and is the terror of the street, he eats our neighbours' cat's dinner and then our neighbours' dinner (we do feed him- he always has food available to him! ) He's been brought back from a couple of different houses when they have had enough. They all say they love him, but he's too much of a pest! He scares their cats! What can I suggest they do to keep him out- I worry that he'll come back one day with an air rifle pellet in him, or something, as he'll have annoyed someone one time too many!

It's not usual for cats to be quite so much in other people's houses- we have heaps of cats on our street and almost never have any in our garden!

He gets heaps of love and cuddles and toys and games from us- he's a very affectionate cat, but we can't be at home 24/7, it does often happen when we're out I think that he just wants company mostly!

Wow he must be a lovely cat-very cuddely i assume. I remember when my cat was a kitten she went in 3 peoples houses even when some of them had dogs!! lol but all cats are nosy, i think its kinda sweet-the going in other peoples houses he should grow out of that eventauly my cat has and the air riffle thing, dont worry about that, i dont think no-one would do that to a cat thats harmless and not actually done nothing, just keep an eye out !!
Good Luck XxX

All cats are nosey. The only way to prevent your kitten from being a busy body is to keep him inside at home. It's safer anyhow since kittens are not street smart and are at high risk of getting hit by a car or like you said being target practice to mean people/kids.
You need to keep kitty inside with a lot of toys. He will not be fine inside and not miss anything if you start him while he's very young. It becomes harder as he gets older to change him into an indoor kitty. Indoor cats live longer because they don't eat dirty or diseased rodents, birds, etc.

Cats are naturally nosey you must take care he doesn't go poking in removal vans etc. and get carried off.If you get him neutered he might not wander so much but he's maybe going to be the dominant neighbourhood tom and they can be a nuisance terrorising all the other cats so keep an eye on him.

Be sure to get him neutered before Thanksgiving if you can. That will help control some of his adventurous behavior. Of course, that is why so many people keep their cats indoors. People can get very annoyed when they don't have cats and of course some people wouldn't think twice about taking a pot shot at him. It's one of the dangers of having him free-roaming.

Why not keep him as an indoor cat? If you are worried about him getting lonely, adopt him a friend. I have indoor cats, and they are just fine when they are home alone. Of course, they are happy when their family returns, but they do not get depressed when home alone.

Is he fixed? That might help. Try not to let him outside. how is he eating the other cats dinner & neighbors? Is he getting into their houses? If so, that is your cat, you are the one to be responsible for your animals. If you are worried he might get a pellet in him, then save yourself the greif & worry & don't allow him out.

5 months is young to be letting a cat out. I never let mine out till they were 6 months. I hope you've had him neutered otherwise he really shouldn't be getting out until he has been.

Try to make him feel like you are giving him all he needs. You could also try keeping him in the house for a few days.

Tricky business with male cats is unless they are neutered they tend to run riot. I prefer male cats to females, yours is young and is trying out his hunting skills. Give him time or maybe another cat for company while you are out. Best of luck.

Kittens are curious by nature. The only way to stop him from bothering your neighbors is to please keep him inside with his toys. He also will then look forward to when you and the family comes home more than looking to your neighbors for attention too.
