Is it to prevent fleas or to benefit their fur or skin? An instinctual thing obviously but I wonder why...

Or is it just fun?

I took my little feline girl to the vet yesterday for a check-up. She cried all the way in the car (as she always does) and it was hard to go through with it because it breaks my heart to hear her cry like that. Then, when we got to the surgery and were waiting at reception, a man came in with a big dog. The dog was good-natured but was intrigued by my cat and kept staring into her basket. She was getting really scared but i didn't take her away as I didn't want to seem over-protective. She hissed at him and he went away but then he came back and she suddeny lashed out at him through the bars of her basket. She is usually a very sweet cat and never hisses, i've never seen her like that before. I then put her basket on my lap but the dog had really scared her and when she went in to see the vet she wouldn't come out of the basket; he had to turn it upside down and pull her out. She was terrified. I feel i let her down. Should I have moved her away from the dog earlier?

I mean if I caught some, and brought them in, would they have a chance at life, or would they be euthanized? What if it were a female cat that was already pregnant or in heat? If it happened to scratch someone, would they put it to sleep? I don't have time to contact the humane society, because I work all day, and it is closed by the time I get home.b but if anyone knows the answer(perhaps someone who works for the Humane Society (especially the one in South Florida, I would appreciate your help. I care about these cats, and I want to help them.

My cat has frequently gotten in the pattern of peeing to the side of her litter box or around it. This always seems to happen when I feed her cheap wet food from the grocery store. In the past, the vet tested her and she was negative for UTI, but suggested it was behavioral and I used aluminum foil around the box to divert her- instead, she found a different spot! How can I tell if she has a UTI instead of a behavioral issue again? I have since moved to a new location from her past behavioral issue and she didn't pee outside the box for 4 months. Now she is again and I am frustrated! HELP

It's soft and squishy, and it doesn't get any bigger or smaller. It doesn't seem to bother her much and she eats and plays just fine. What could it be? Is it just a odd growth that I shouldn't worry about?

Even if our cat Burrito has food in her bowl - plenty of food - she will bug us in the morning until we get up and go over to the food bowl. If there's food in the bowl, she's just content that we look at it with her. If we shut the bedroom door she meows and scratches, and ultimately poops in the shower to punish us. Is there any hope for us to be able to sleep in late on the weekends without the cat walking all over us and putting her butt on our heads until we get up? Seriously - butt on the head. She thinks "get out!" and "stop!" mean "keep sitting on my head!" It doesn't. Your thought appreciated!

My 10 week old Kitten pooed out a little amount of blood for the first time. IT seems that he was straining to get that last itty bitty peice of sh!it with blood on it out.

He is an indoor cat, we have no other pets, his deit is healthy. I do give him minerals and vitimans and Sometimes I give him shrimp.

He has all of his shots and is neutred.

Is this a major thing? Should I be worried?
Should I wait to see if it happens again?
Whats wrong with him?

I feed my cat Friskies rite now, but he's getting older and i'm worried that Friskies won't give him the nutrients he needs. I've been feeding my new kitten Iams (what his old owner fed him) and he's VERY healthy and happy. I'm thinking of a switch. Should I? Are there any other brands that are better? Why is Iams better than Friskies?

THANX!!!

I have 4 cats. 1 is obviously the alpha. Another of my cats never behaves until the alpha female comes in. Then it's like a child whose Mom walks in. She stops whatever she's doing and doesn't get into anything else. It's weird. I've never seen them in a fight, the older cat just has this effect on her. What do you think?

She's 6 years old. Recently my sister came to my house in California from New York. She stayed for a week. My cat get stressed REALLY easily and has been all week. Now she's not eating at all and when she does she can't keep it down. She throws up liquid though. She has been sleeping the whole day also. Is this just stress? And what do I do to help her out of it?

My two twin boys, 1 year old, keep trying to mate witht their sister, 7 months old. They are all fixed. She is old enough to know what they want, and know she isn't intrested! The attempts are ridiculous and endless! Evil One is just trying to jump on her, while Evil Too is a bit more suave about it, he licks as though he was just being nice, and then bam! (Doesn't surprise me, Evil Too is very skinny and loves to tan himself. He is apparently on the South Beach Diet! He's a very metrosexual cat! )

Anyway, back to the matter at hand, what can I do to stop my boys from trying to "enjoy" their sister?
