She's 6 years old. Recently my sister came to my house in California from New York. She stayed for a week. My cat get stressed REALLY easily and has been all week. Now she's not eating at all and when she does she can't keep it down. She throws up liquid though. She has been sleeping the whole day also. Is this just stress? And what do I do to help her out of it?

She hates the vet. If I can keep her from going then I will. That will stress her out more. When I take her to the vet she's stressed for like 3 days and won't talk to me

Hi there...if she hasn't eaten in several days this would merit an urgent trip to the vet. However, most cats when left alone with food and water will eat a little nibble or two and come around once the source of the stress is gone after a few days. Consider keeping a close watch on her to be sure she eats and drinks. Cats who do not eat suffer from hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver syndrome) where the liver shuts down due to starvation. http://www.sniksnak.com/cathealth/hep-lipidosis.html

Go to Petsmart or Petco and buy a plug-in scent for cats called "Comfort Zone." It helps alleviate stress and anxiety in cats. For stressful trips (like to the vets) you can give your kitty one of those calming flower essences for cats like the "Fear Flower Essence" or "PetCalm" sold in the same stores.
Sometimes stress can aggravate existing physical conditions in pets and throwing up constantly would be a red flag. You need to take kitty to the vet in case there is some illness aggravated by stress. If there is, catching it early is more than half the battle.
Good Luck!

she might be!
its weird how bad cats can get stressed out cuz i had 2 cats when I moved here to Florida, from Georgia and we let one outside the day we moved here, which was a mistake because it ran away quickly. Then our other cat we kept in the house for a while before we let her out and she would stay around the house and all but then days later she started acting strange, like she would walk and fall all of a sudden. it was so sad cuz i loved that cat :( and she would sneeze a lot and wen she jumped up on somethin, she'd fall. like 2 days later, i could kinda sense it, but we let her out cuz my mom didn't like the cat inside the house, and she ran away. I think she went somewhere and died but i dont know.. i just miss her a lot, she was a sweet cat :(
another thing i noticed, was wen she started acting all weird before she left or died, she was VERy affectionate, more than usual. if u notice that, u probably should take him/her to the vet, or even if the cat acts the opposite.

Probably stress. Call the vet just in case. Good luck!
One of mine hates the vet too. But if you had a child, would let her go sick just because she hates the doctor? Cats don't know what's best when it comes to their health.

Even thou, she gets stressed out from going to the vet it might be your only choice. My cat had all the same symptoms as yours and come to find out she had diabetes and her sugar levels were high. So be on the safe side and take he/she to the vet.

It sounds like she is sick. It's been a week now, and she should have adjusted. Please take her to the vet ASAP. The excessive throwing up andnot eating are warning signs.

I'm assuming she has not expressed stress in this fashion before. She sounds sick. Try to keep her hydrated and take her to the veterinarian. I hope she feels better soon.
