My 10 week old Kitten pooed out a little amount of blood for the first time. IT seems that he was straining to get that last itty bitty peice of sh!it with blood on it out.

He is an indoor cat, we have no other pets, his deit is healthy. I do give him minerals and vitimans and Sometimes I give him shrimp.

He has all of his shots and is neutred.

Is this a major thing? Should I be worried?
Should I wait to see if it happens again?
Whats wrong with him?

If his stool was dry and hard, that might explain the small amount of blood. The act of straining to eliminate may have caused the bleeding. He may need a bit of oil in his diet. You should watch him when he uses his litter box, and if this continues, or if it is large amounts of blood, certainly a trip to the vet is in order.

Also, be sure you aren't overdosing your cat with the vitamins/minerals. Make certain the dosage is correct. I'm just making an educated guess here, but perhaps too much of something may make him constipated.

Hope he gets better soon.

Sounds like your kitty had a bout of constipation and the strain and effort to move his bowels may have caused some bleeding - like in us when we are constipated and straining. Kitty is too young to have developed urinary tract issues and the like. If kitty is eating and drinking and playing, he could be fine. But give him something to relieve and prevent constipation. Lots of water and and maybe a dab or two of vaseline petroleun jelly on his tongue or some other anti-constipation pet medication.

Good luck.

He sounds constipated, poo that is strained can really hurt.
Add some "oil" in his diet, those "HEALTHY" diet may not agree with him because its too "Rich".
I would give him some "wet" food for a few days and see how it goes.

Good luck

I just went thru this with my cat, Buckwheat. I took him into the vet and he was given some intibiotics. He had a bacterial infection in his intestine.
